Lake Union straddles Seattle and is famous for the houseboats in the movie "Sleepless in Seattle". The annual "Lake Union Canoe Festival" can see hundreds of exquisite canoes, and there will be fireworks on Independence Day. The south side of the lake is the downtown Seattle area where attractions gather, while the north side is close to the Fairmont District and University City.
