I think this Palace is well kept. However there wasn't a lot to see . The garden felt very nature like birds chirping, cool and relaxing. However try to get there for the changing of the guards ceremony. If you are there for the 3.30pm , last show you can get a picture with 1 of the guards

Deoksugung is a peaceful place to spend some time. The architecture is absolutely beautiful as well. The walking pass around the wall of this palace is popular for the locals. It's a nice spot for a date, picnic, and family gathering.
Free place to visit when in Seoul. Not much to really look at. But a great place to walk around and look at the palace.
Many dramas are filmed at this palace (for you k-drama watchers). The palace was nice, my favorite part of my luck in being able to see the changing of the guards! I've witnessed many in different countries and it's amazing how different they all are. My friend told me right outside the walls of the palace is a famous sidewalk, you aren't suppose to go with your significant other or you'll break up. It's a superstition but I'm not going to mess with it!It was really trippy to see this old palace surrounded by modern buildings.
A good stop on a tour of the city center. Get the timing right to see the changing of the guard. The tour of the palace itself will be more enjoyable with an English speaking guide.
