Unmissable Eastern European garden - Serbia.
Serbia has beautiful scenery, dense river networks, and diverse landforms. The north is an agricultural cultivation base; the central region is a fruit planting area; gradually to the south, it becomes a mountainous and canyon area, with many caves and protected virgin forests. The Danube River flows through the country, and the history of many foreign invasions and rule has left a rich cultural heritage, including prehistoric archaeological sites, ancient Roman cultural sites, and a large number of medieval churches and monasteries, nurturing such a beautiful and low-key secret garden country in Eastern Europe. From Belgrade to Nis, its cities have unique characteristics. Belgrade: one of the top ten nightlife cities in the world; Subotica: a small town full of Hungarian style; Novi Sad: the "Athens" city with abundant knowledge; Nis: the city of slaughter and resistance in the past.
Climb up the Kalemegdan Fortress, draped in the glow of the setting sun, and imagine the changes of time. Later, as the sun sets in the west, the gentle and charming Danube River and the bright moonlight will cover you with a cool night. The St. Sava Church is the largest Eastern Orthodox church on the surface of the earth, built in memory of St. Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and an important figure in medieval Serbia. The church is magnificent and solemn, with religious stories in the murals wrapped in brilliant colors, fascinating people.

The Best Orthodox Church in Belgrade Serbia
The Temple of Saint Sava is a Serbian Orthodox church which is located in Belgrade, Serbia. It is dedicated to Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
This is the largest Orthodox church in Serbia and it ranks among the largest churches in the world. It is the most recognisable building in Belgrade and a landmark, as its dominating dome resembles that of the Hagia Sophia.
Speak about astounding architecture and beauty - this Church is so outstandingly visible from every corner of Belgrade and is marvelous. Every day, its grandiose bell towers with almost 50 bells announce noon and I was lucky enough to hear the bells ring and echo so rhythmically and beautiful to the ears.
The interiors are so beautifully done and maintained. A place of peace and serenity. Outside this Church, lots of people were lighting candles and praying.
One of the most beautiful and attractive edifice of Serbia, it has people all over visit it.
Must visit when in Belgrade. Delicious local food#mapletrees
Travel in Serbia | The largest Orthodox church in the world - St. Sava Cathedral
Saint Sava Cathedral (Serbian: /Hram svetog Save) is a Orthodox church in Belgrade, Serbia The largest Orthodox church in the world, ranked one of the ten cathedrals in the world.
is coming at night, but you can see the green dome of St. Sava Church. The church is dedicated to St. Sava, a prince in the history of Serbia, the founder and first archbishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the founder of Serbian law and literature, and the patron saint of Serbian schools and students.
The church is located in the Frachal Heights in the city of Belgrade, where the Ottoman Prime Minister Sinan Pasha burned his body in 1595, after which the Serbs held a large statue with the image of Sava. The flag started the war against the Ottoman Turkish Empire.
300 years later, in 1895, the Kingdom of Serbia decided to establish the Church of St. Sava in the place where the remains of St. Sava was burned. It dominated the city of Belgrade, perhaps the most magnificent building in the city.
However, due to financial problems and wars, the cathedral has not been completed yet, and the funds for building the church are entirely from the donations of believers. Out of the church, there is a bronze statue with a hand on the cross and a hand on the door. That is Saint Sava.
This church is now a landmark in Belgrade, both inside and outside. It is breathtaking. It is said that the surface area of the first floor of the Cathedral Light is 3,500 square meters, there are three 1,500 square meters of galleries on the second floor, and a 120 square meter gallery on the third floor. The church can accommodate up to 10,000 followers, and its choir seats can accommodate 800 singers. The altar area of the church is more than the entire Belgrade area except for it!
Outside the church, there are a lot of people chatting and walking nearby, and I saw a lot of children rolling around here, very lively, and foreign photographers have a tripod shooting time on the square. The deep blue sky at night makes it even more mysterious.
In addition to the St. Sava church next to the St. Sava church, you can visit ~

Zemun Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Belgrade | The most beautiful guide
| The most beautiful guide. P1: Mihailo Street in Belgrade
The city of Belgrade, few people, personally think it's uninteresting
P2-3: Kalemegdan Castle
A very old castle, there are a lot of shells and weapons from the Yugoslav war, all displayed here, few people, suitable for taking pictures
P4-5: St. Sava Cathedral
Rich and magnificent, very large, the top is very high, it is the faith of the Serbs
P6-8: Zemun Town
A very interesting town, quiet and comfortable, standing at the top of the town can see the most beautiful sunset, Serbia belongs to high latitude, starting at three or four in the afternoon, the sky begins to slowly darken, so it is best to climb to the top to see the sunset before 4 o'clock
2023 Serbia Trip - Zemon
Zemun is on the south bank of the Danube River. You can take a bus from Belgrade, just search on Google. It takes over 40 minutes to walk from the Moscow Hotel where I stay.
I went to the monument of the Chinese Embassy in former Yugoslavia early in the morning. The former embassy has now been converted into the China Cultural Center. It was built by Shandong Expressway Investment and is now mainly a hotel with staff responsible for cultural exchanges sent by the Shandong Provincial Government. During this year's Spring Festival, they organized a team, including lion dance, snacks, handicrafts, and traditional handicraft demonstrations, to tour Serbia like a temple fair. I flew with them on the same plane, and we met in Belgrade and Novi Sad, which was very lively.
Zemeng is a small mountain town, it's better when the weather gets warmer~ It's a bit like a mini version of Zadar.
In the highest point of the town, there is a café where you can sit inside, keep warm, and enjoy the view.
Zemun Cemetary!
I was googling on what to do in Zemun and came across a blog saying that someone actually spend 1 to 2 hours of their time in a Cemetary. Who goes to a cemetary as a tourist attraction?!!? What!?!?
After visiting the cemetary, I finally understood why people come here besides paying respects to the dead. It is the coolest cemetary I have ever seen. What is so special:
1) Normally cemetary are religious based i.e. muslim cemetaries, christian cemetary etc. But this one is multi-religious, with different parts dedicating to different religion which is really cool!
2) The tomb stones are super cool and varied, there are sculptures like a boxer, angels and all kinds of styles of tombstones.
A few things to know before traveling to Serbia ~ Especially don't miss the swans in Zemun town
Serbia, a country located in southeastern Europe, is a landlocked country on the Balkan Peninsula, bordering 8 countries, 4 of which are former Yugoslav members. In recent years, Serbia's economy has grown rapidly, and it has gradually become one of the popular destinations for European travel. In 2015, it was rated as "one of the top ten travel destinations worth traveling" by Lonely Planet. Serbia is one of the most complete places for natural ecological protection in Europe, with exceptionally rich natural scenery, orchards, forests, grasslands, peaks, canyons, lakes, rivers, vineyards and vineyards everywhere, with very little pollution and fresh air ~ The Danube is the European river that flows through the most countries, and one-fifth of it is within Serbia's borders.
I went to four cities in total: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Zlatibor ~
Let's share Belgrade first
The capital of Serbia, Belgrade ~ This is one of the oldest cities in Europe, located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, it is known as the "crossroads of the eastern and western worlds".
The St. Sava Church is located on a hill in the eastern part of the old city of Belgrade. It is the largest Orthodox church in the world. The last time I came, the exterior construction was completed ~ The interior is still being decorated, and this time I finally saw the golden interior of the church. It's absolutely beautiful! The high and majestic dome interior walls and surroundings are golden giant mosaic murals, with a total area of over 15,000 square meters, ranking among the world's largest mosaics.
When you come to Belgrade, you must go to the city's most famous commercial street, Mihailo Grand Duke Street, to stroll around. The representative buildings of the 19th century European style stand on both sides of the street ~ Walking along this street to the end is the Kalemegdan ancient castle located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. It is the best witness to the history of Belgrade city and a landmark scenic spot and leisure place in Belgrade. Although the castle has been repaired and expanded many times, the architectural style of ancient Rome and the Austro-Hungarian Empire can still be seen,
Most of the existing ruins of the Kalemegdan Castle were mainly built during the Turkish rule ~ Now a park has been built around it, overlooking the Danube and the former battlefield ~ The entire castle is built of huge stones, and the architectural style of ancient Rome and the Austro-Hungarian Empire can still be seen ~ Walking to the northwest end of the castle, sitting on the high city wall of the Belgrade Fortress, you can see the Sava and Danube rivers converge. Walking back from the Belgrade Fortress, after seven years, the Moskava Hotel is very suitable for drinking hot red wine in winter! It used to be called the Moscow Grand Hotel ~ It is a long-established hotel in Belgrade, with a strong Vienna Art Nouveau style. Once ~ The whole of Yugoslavia regarded going to the Moscow Grand Hotel for coffee as a grand and beautiful thing in life!
In addition, Zemun in the suburbs of Belgrade is a good place for locals to relax ~ There are many good restaurants along the Danube in the small town ~ Climbing to the top of the highest point of the small town, the Millennium Tower, you can overlook the entire small town's Central European style red roof buildings, looking far along the Danube, you can also see the cityscape of Belgrade.
In Belgrade ~ Weekends always come to Zemun town for a stroll ~ Look at the swans on the Danube, especially after the snow is more beautiful! Zemun was once a border town between Austria and the Ottoman Empire, so it blends Austrian and Ottoman exotic styles ~ The locals in Belgrade love to come here for leisure and vacation. Coming here is like traveling through several centuries in the past ~ You can experience and feel the quiet time of the old times.
Other places I recommend not to miss when coming to Serbia:
The northern city of Serbia, Novi Sad·South Backa State, holds a four-day EXIT music festival every July, attracting nearly 300,000 tourists from all over the world ~ Historically, it was the cultural center of Serbia, known as "The Athens of Serbia", drinking afternoon tea on the castle of Petrovaradin Fortress, overlooking the quiet flow of the Danube; eating Brunch in Freedom Square, drinking a few glasses of champagne, enjoying the warm sun in the spring afternoon can be slightly drunk ~ The brightly colored buildings with European retro luxury horse-drawn carriages kicking past, people are confused, as if they have traveled to the prosperous place of Europe hundreds of years ago...... It only takes one hour to take a bus from Belgrade to Novi Sad, with a bus every 20 minutes, which can be returned on the same day.
The northern border city of Serbia, Subotica·North Backa State, is full of local art buildings with Hungarian colors. This is a colorful art city, and it is also a city of multi-ethnic integration: 25 ethnic groups, 6 languages. Due to its proximity to the Hungarian border, it is popular to decorate local buildings with Hungary's famous Zsolnay ceramics. Subotica also has a museum that carries the treasures of new art, the famous local resort Palic Lake is a fairy tale world for me, and there is a quite large zoo in the fairy tale world, which makes the fairy tale world more vivid ~ In addition, if you like wine, you can also go to Serbia's famous ZVONKO BOGDAN winery and vineyard, which is also near Palic Lake.
The western border city, Zlatibor·Municipality of Cajetina is located in the border area of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina ~ Serbia has 5 national parks, more than 30 natural parks and special nature reserves, and the Tara National Park located in Zlatibor State is a very distinctive one, Tara Mountain and Drina River are intertwined ~ There are wooden villas for accommodation under the mountain, the scenery along the way of hiking is beautiful, the small wooden house standing on the rocks of the Drina River for nearly half a century, these two years have been constantly exploding hermit thoughts on various social media ~ The real thing is indeed dreamy ~ The rich resources of the Zlatibor mountain area can allow people to experience the real outdoor adventure fun. Summer hiking, boating, climbing and winter skiing are all popular projects here. Kopaonik Mountain is a famous ski resort in Eastern Europe ~ Although it is bathed in sunshine for more than 200 days a year, the magic is that every November to May of the following year is snowy, even if its reputation may not be as good as Switzerland, France and other European ski resorts, but its 44 kilometers of ski slopes and 20 kilometers of ski cable cars make many traditional ski resorts pale in comparison ~ In addition, the Wood Village located in the Zlatibor mountain area is a famous Serbian director built for the filming of the movie "Life is a Miracle" ~ All buildings from the ground to the house are built of wood and decorated with colorful oil paintings ~ Now the Wood Village has also become a famous resort, not only with museums and galleries, stadiums and restaurants and cafes, but also with a cinema that can accommodate 100 people. You can also take a small train to tour the Zlatibor mountain area in the Wood Village. As one of the few narrow-gauge railways in the world, the train itself is a museum. The four carriages have completely different styles and layouts, which are very worth experiencing ~ The entire operation line takes two and a half hours to cross 10 bridges and 22 tunnels in total, taking in the beautiful and quiet mountain scenery......

Petrovaradin Fortress Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Here are a few things you must know before traveling to Serbia~ Especially don't miss Novi Sad!
Having already traveled through the central, northern, and western parts of the country~ I have a general understanding, so let me summarize: Serbia, a country located in southeastern Europe, is a landlocked country on the Balkan Peninsula, bordering eight countries, four of which are former Yugoslav members. In recent years, Serbia's economy has grown rapidly, and it has gradually become one of the popular travel destinations in Europe. In 2015, it was rated by Lonely Planet as one of the 'top ten travel destinations worth visiting'. I visited four cities in total: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, and Zlatibor~
Let me share about Novi Sad!
Last time I came to Novi Sad it was early spring, the flowers were in full bloom~ everything was reviving, a scene full of vitality
Walking around the central square of Novi Sad in winter, I think it fits more with the tenacious character of Serbia
Novi Sad, which experienced the turmoil of the European Revolution in 1848, had already become the cultural center of Serbia in that era, and was given the beautiful name 'Athens of Serbia'~
Historically, Novi Sad has always maintained the characteristics of multi-ethnic cohabitation and coexistence of multiple cultures, with Serbs, Hungarians, and Germans being the main ethnic groups in the city
Today's Novi Sad is still a city where multiple ethnic groups live together, it has a unique charm and diverse culture, in addition to the Serbs~ there are also Hungarians, Slovaks, Czechs, Romanians, Croatians and other ethnic groups
Other places I recommend not to miss when coming to Serbia: The capital of Serbia, Belgrade~ This is one of the oldest cities in Europe, located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, it is known as the 'crossroads of the eastern and western worlds'. Hiking, boating, mountain climbing in summer and skiing in winter are all popular activities here, Kopaonik Mountain is a famous skiing resort in Eastern Europe~ Although it is bathed in sunshine for more than 200 days a year, miraculously, it is snowy from November to May every year, even though its reputation may not be as good as Switzerland, France and other European skiing resorts, but its 44 kilometers of ski slopes and 20 kilometers of ski cable cars make many traditional ski resorts pale in comparison~ In addition, the Wooden Village located in the Zlatibor mountain area was built by a famous Serbian director for the filming of the movie 'Life is a Miracle'~ All the buildings from the ground to the houses are made of wood and decorated with colorful oil paintings~ Today's Wooden Village has also become a famous resort, not only with museums and galleries, sports halls and restaurants and cafes, but also a cinema that can accommodate 100 people, you can also take a small train to tour the Zlatibor mountain area in the Wooden Village, as one of the few narrow-gauge railways in the world, the train itself is a museum, with four carriages of completely different styles and layouts, it is very worth experiencing~ The entire route takes two and a half hours to cross 10 bridges and 22 tunnels, taking in the beautiful and tranquil mountain scenery...
Novi Sad is less than a two-hour drive from Belgrade Airport and is the capital of the province of Vojvodina in northern Serbia. It guards the transportation of the upper and lower reaches of the Danube and the two sides of the strait, just like the throat of the "European Crossroads" in Serbia. In the era of underdeveloped traffic, it was a battleground for the military.
The Petrovaradin Fortress, standing on the right bank of the Nauru, is a window to the history of Novi Sad. As early as the Roman Empire, there were already large-scale fortifications. The fortress was easy to defend and difficult to attack. For many centuries, it has been a battleground for military strategists. After many wars, it has now become a tourist attraction.
The fortress on the outskirts of the city, next to the Danube, the fortress that existed from the Roman period, is the second largest fortress in Europe. As long as you climb the fortress, you know why they are building a fortress here. It is located at the cross of the river and is easy to defend. The Danube is not blue or romantic here, but the clouds in the sky are blossoming like cotton candy. Very good looking.
Because I caught up with Sunday, plus the sun shining, the weather is very good, I feel that people from half a city come here to gather together. Everyone is in a circle, watching Serbian children dance. This famous fisherman's lighthouse is crowded like this, but it is no less than the Chinese. The hour and minute hands of the lighthouse are the opposite, and it is said that the fishermen can see the approximate time from a long distance.
Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia and a cultural center. Standing on the iconic Petrovaradin fortress, the beautiful scenery of the city is unobstructed. The piers that were blown up in the river are vaguely telling the pain of the war years, but the strong Serbian people rebuild the city with their own strength and optimism, enjoying life. There are international food markets on the
city square, and there are pedestrian streets nearby.

Belgrade City Heart, Mijano Dagong Street Strolling
Mikhai Lok Street (Ulica Knez Mihailova, Serbian: ) is Belgrade's main pedestrian street, named after 1870. The city center of Belgrade is equivalent to a pedestrian street in every city in the country, such as Chunxi Road in Chengdu. Because the name is too long, we call it Chunxi Road there.
"When the white cockroach was extinguished in the twilight, he opened tomorrow and yesterday with a long night." Wandering in the streets of Belgrade, the words that Pavitch wrote once appeared in his mind. .
This street has a more local and rich artistic atmosphere. The street performers are adjacent to the booths selling paintings. The buildings are historically vicissitudes of European-style buildings. Sit down on the side of the road to enjoy local red wine and leisure. The enjoyment of the retro and lively European streets is also a rare leisure time in the trip.
The Mikhailuo Dagong Street at night is even more fascinating. Belgrade is famous for its rich nightlife. Late night restaurants and bars are still full of people, street performers, beautiful beauties, and occasionally Familiar Asian faces that you will encounter.
