Notre Dame Church

At the intersection of Xiangyang Road and Xinle Road in Xuhui District, there is a very conspicuous church, its official name should be the Notre Dame Hall, but many people only call it Xinle Road Church. Built in the Republic of China in 21 (1932), the church was built by the Orthodox Shanghai Diocese of Victor (Belarus) to Orthodox and Belarusian diaspora funds, also known as the Virgin Hall. The building is typical of the Russian Orthodox church style, with a large semi-circular dome on the middle top and four corners. A two-story building on the south side is a clergy residence with a construction area of 538 square meters. The hall of the Virgin is similar to the Moscow Savior Church, which belongs to Byzantine architecture and reflects the architectural characteristics of the Russian national form. The dome of the church is wrapped in a metal shell supported by a wooden structure, round and full, with a slightly shrinking bottom, like onion, and a bronze skin.
