Shing Wong Temple is a Taoist temple located in western Shanghai’s Zhujiajiao Ancient Town. The temple serves as the so-called “city god temple,” meaning it is the principle temple in the Zhujiajiao area. Constructed according to the Jiangnan style, there is an elegance on display. The Xiaoqu River flows nearby and the temple is guarded by a pair of stone lions. Plum and willow trees are planted throughout the courtyards. If you plan to visit western Shanghai, there is much to see in Zhujiajiao Ancient Town and the Shing Wong Temple should certainly be on your list.
