We were the 1st customer for lunch today. MK opens at 11am & we were here at 11.15am. It's a weekday & not lunchtime yet. Generally the place is nice, comfortable & modern. We tried 2 lunch sets. 1. MK roasted duck with rice & Tom Yum Kung ( prawn). The duck was very good. The Tom Yum soup is quite good too but portion was pretty small. From the menu promo picture, it looks like a big bowl! 2. Chicken & Shrimp Suki set. When they first brought in the empty hot pot with the soup, it was huge for 1 person. We thought they had brought in the wrong order. Later, the plate with the "one person" portion fresh ingredients came. There were more vegetables than meat ( in fact, very little). The soup is average. Service was friendly & attentive. Noticed all the 4 staff were Thai. Very authentic. Based on what we had, would think food is fine & the prices reasonable. Would need to try other food to get a better overall assessment of this restaurant's food. All said, it's worth a try if one has not been here before.
I've always loved MK steamboat when I visit Bangkok and was elated when MK comes to Singapore. Most of my visits were with the branch at Westgate. Service is always prompt and polite with their Thai staff. We have a hard time deciding between buffet and a la-carte and the staff would patiently explained re: the difference. The ingredients are very fresh (meat, vegetables, mushrooms, dumplings etc) and I really enjoyed the roast duck, the soups, the sauces and my Thai ice tea. Price is definitely most expensive than in Bangkok but I feel that it's worthy for the quality of the food.
I love this restaurant in Thailand and this is my review for the MK restaurant in Jurong, Singapore. Same great food, different format of charging (In Thailand, it's a la carte but it's buffet style in Singapore). For the same amount of stomach bursting food, I am paying 4X the price I would pay in Bangkok. MK in Singapore is way too expensive.
