Tomb of King Sulu

The Tomb of King Sulu is located in Beiying Village, North District of Dezhou City. In 1997, it was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit in the province. The ancient Sulu Kingdom is located on the Sulu Islands in the Philippines. It is an emirate that believes in Islam. The country is divided into three princes, the East King, the West King, and the Dong King. The East King is the respect. In the Ming Dynasty of our country, the ancient Sulu Kingdom started close friendly exchanges with our country. In the fifteenth year of Yongle’s reign in the Ming Dynasty, three kings on the Sulu Archipelago—the Eastern King Batu Gepahala, the Western King Mahala Gemading, and the Dong Wang Batu Gepalabu, led a group of 340 family members to form a friendly mission. He came to China for a friendly visit and received a grand reception by Emperor Yongle of Ming Dynasty, Zhu Di. The three kings stayed happily in Beijing for 22 days, and returned to the country by boat along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The king of the east was unfortunately ill among the returnees who took the route from Shandong. On September 13, 1417, he died of illness in Anling Township, north of Dezhou. Hall. When Emperor Yongle heard the obituary, he was deeply mourned, so he sent the minister of Rites to Dezhou with a sacrificial text to be buried with Wang Li. The eldest son of the East King, Duma Han, returned to the country to inherit the throne, and the princess Ge Muning, the second son Wenhala, the third son Andulu and more than ten attendants stayed in Dezhou to guard the tomb. In the autumn of the 16th year of Yongle, Emperor Yongle wrote another article himself, ordering the Leshi Temple to "perpetuate forever". After the death of Princess Dong and the two princes, they were buried in the southeast corner of the cemetery respectively. In the ninth year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1713), according to the request of the descendants of the East King to be naturalized in China, the Qing court was recited, and the inscription was naturalized in China with the surnames Wen and An, and became a member of the big family of the Chinese nation. The descendants of the Eastern King have been passed down to 21 generations so far. In 1980, the Philippine ambassador to China, Dr. Reyes, made a special trip to Texas to pay homage to the tomb of the Eastern King and meet with the descendants of the Eastern King. In 1986, China and the Philippines co-produced a large-scale historical and legendary feature film "The King of Sulu and the Emperor of China".
