Diocletian's Palace, located in Split, Croatia, was the palace where the Roman Emperor Diocletian lived after his abdication. Built in AD 295-305, the palace is a magnificent seaside fortress and a giant country house. The entire palace is about 215 meters long from north to south, and the palace wall is about 2.1 meters thick. The ruins of the palace are part of the historical core of Split and were declared a World Heritage Site in 1979.
