Stockholm is rich of great museums, but this one is exceptional as it is one of the best museums for contemporary art in Europe. Take your time for the short walk from the city center and soak in the ...
We decided to go here thinking it would give us something to do. When we arrived it was free admission and lockers. The main exhibition was fascinating but what really made it was the exhibition with ...
I'm far from the most cultured of men, so things like pieces of silver corrugated cardboard and cat litter bags don't do much for me, but drop in names like Picasso and Warhol, and you have my attenti...
The building is white cube like and if you are interested in conceptual modern art, many videos, it is a fine collection (free for the collection). Some colourful sculptures outside. However, overall ...

The Moderna Museet is one of the most interesting museums in Stockholm. The museum is located on the island of Skeppsholmen in the center of the city. The Moderna Museet first opened its doors in 1958 and since then has housed Swedish and international modern and contemporary art. The collection at the Moderna Museet includes works by Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Henri Matisse and many others. The museum building itself is also well known for its sleek, clean lines and natural lighting. The exhibits are often disorienting and visually powerful. It is recommended that tours last at least a few hours in order to be able to see all of the exhibits.

Impressive but small museum featuring mostly 20th century modern art. The current (Nov 2015) temporary exhibition "Reality Machines" by Olafur Eliasson is outstanding. The museum is located on Skeppsholmen Island very close to downtown Stockholm. Entry free with Stockholm card.
I have never been to such an incredible modern art museum EVER. I went here on an impromptu 'first date vacation' with my boyfriend. There was an awesome Duchamp and Picasso exhibit and tons of selections from other contemporary artists. The most striking exhibit was a collection of Hilma Af Klint's work. This Swedish woman is a pioneer of abstract art and depicts many philosophical, scientific, and religious themes throughout her paintings. 20 years after her death in the 40s her art was finally revealed to the public. Overall, this museum is absolutely one of the best I've ever visited. Worth it.
A beautiful museum of art and design. They often have a strong architectural focus and their bookshop is almost a museum's worth of knowledge in itself.
Good exhibits, garden, and restaurant. I enjoyed the Fantastic Paradise outside the museum very much. The sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely are fun to look at. The restaurant has good food and great view of Stockholm. Architecture museum is right next door.
