Learn about the feats of genius that earned Nobel Prizes at Stockholm's Nobel Museum. Dedicated to the prizes initiated by Swedish native Alfred Nobel in 1895, this museum features exhibits that explore Marie Curie's relentless search for new elements, Nelson Mandela's selfless battle for equality in South Africa and Samuel Beckett's arcane, quirky plays and novels. Ongoing exhibitions explore the nature of creativity and the selection process for the Nobel Prizes. Lots of reading but engaging for those interested in the history of the prize and the accomplishments of the winners. Inspiring!
The Nobel Museum is the place to learn more about the Prize and the the founder Alfred Nobel, as well as the Nobel Laureates which is more than 800. They also houses personal items of each Nobel Laureates that were significant in their achievement.
I spent a week in Stockholm and visited many of her museums and the Nobelmuseet is probably my favorite. It's a quite unique museum that takes you on an excursion throughout the history of the Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prizes, beginning with the laureates of 1901 and continuing to the present day. The museum celebrates the accomplishments and the memory of the 800+ Nobel laureates with an immense range of exhibitions, films and science-related productions. The best part for me was the Cultures of Creativity Exhibit that takes visitors on a journey through the process of selecting a Nobel Prize winner from the appointment to the actual banquet. And no Nobel banquet is complete without a sample of the famous Nobel ice cream which is served each year at the awards ceremony!
