Mather House Museum is a quite famous attraction on the side of Port Jefferson (Port Jefferson), and this museum is also the seat of the Port Jefferson Historical Association (Port Jefferson Historical Society). The opening hours are quite special. The regular opening hours in 2016 are Wednesday to Sunday from May 24 to October 11, and the rest of the time will be open if there are special activities. Although you don't need to buy tickets for the visit, you need to donate (Donations requested), and the staff inside provide an explanation guide (Guided tours available). The museum is mainly about the rise and fall of Long Island and the shipbuilding industry along the coast of New York State, with a lot of antiques, furniture, oil paintings and so on. We drove here. I didn't expect that when we came, there was an activity on holidays, so the traffic control was very strong. The road was closed here and we couldn't drive in. It took a long time to find the parking lot and park the car and walk over.
