Duanliang Palace

This is a national treasure-level ancient building in Huqiu Scenic Area. It is located at the entrance of the scenic spot. It is the second mountain gate of the original Song Dynasty Buddhist monastery, Huqiu Temple. It is a single-story mountain style, all brick and wooden structure, and is well preserved.

Broken Liangdian, located in Suzhou Huqiu Scenic Area, is the second mountain gate of Huqiu. It was listed as a provincial cultural relics protection unit in 1961 and was built in the Yuan Dynasty. It has a history of more than 600 years. Because the ridge is made of two sections connected, and the whole hall does not need metal components for fastening, only bamboo and wooden nails are famous, reflecting the wisdom and high skills of the ancient Han people. It is a valuable heritage of ancient Chinese architecture.

The only Yuan Dynasty building in Huqiu Scenic Area, preserved intact, is the Ershan Gate of the original Huqiu Temple, yellow walls and black tiles, simple and beautiful, there are many literati in the hall, the cultural value is relatively high.

This hall does not seem to have any special features outside, but I heard that it was due to the calculation error when the upper beam was wrong, and the length of the beam was wrong, so it was named the broken beam hall. It seems to be just a legend. But the whole hall does not use metal components, only fixed with bamboo and wood, which is also a must.

According to Suzhou folklore, during the Yuan Dynasty, the emperor made a holy order to build a temple gate in Huqiu by the local official residence in Suzhou. When the work was ready and the plan was to go up the beam, the craftsmen suddenly found that the large wood that was originally used as the beam was sawed in two parts as the top beam. As the deadline was approaching, it was impossible to find another timber for the beams. The old craftsman "Sai Luban" managed to build this broken beam hall, which was finally completed on schedule. Because the ridge is made of two sections, the ridge is not fastened with metal components, and the hall is only known for using bamboo and wooden nails. Its shape structure is single-boose mountain style, its end contour, it is from the middle two columns, gradually rising to the sides, forming a circular curve, giving people a sense of light spirit. Reflecting the ingenuity and superb skills of the ancient Han people. It is a valuable heritage of ancient Chinese architecture.

The name is not casual, it is really allusion. It is not supported by a complete beam, which shows how superb the architectural skills of the ancients are. The temple is not large in size, but it is a must-visit place at the entrance of Huqiu Scenic Area. The deep yellow walls and window holes outside the hall are combined to look like a tiger, which is very interesting. The hall is written "Great Wu Shengyang", meaning Wuzhong's place of interest.
