St. James Church is an Anglican church located in the centre of Sydney and was once known as the Westminster Abbey of the South. Consecrated in 1824, the church was designed by convict architect Francis Greenway during the governorship of Lachlan Macquarie and is part of the historical precinct of Macquarie Street which includes many other early colonial buildings such as the Hyde Park Barracks, situated on the Eastern side of St. James Church.Although not the first Anglican church in the colony, St James' is now the oldest church in Sydney's inner city region and has maintained its special role in the city's religious and musical life.I can highly recommend visiting St. James Church, with our family, also having the same name, have been close friends of St. James Church for many decades. My cousin was married at St. James with the reception below at the crypt on the lower level.

St. James’s Church is part of the High Court at the junction of St. James’s Road and Macquarie Road in Sydney. This church was originally a court in 1819, but it became a church in 1824. It is right next to the current High Court and is in a very good location. The New South Wales Parliament Building, Sydney Hospital, New South Wales Library, etc., this area has many places to see and stroll. It's worth coming.
This church is very interesting, similar to the New England colonial style, but it looks different from the outside. The small church on the side is beautiful, with beautiful stained glass inlaid on the windows. But the best thing is the chapel below the main church. You need to leave the main church first and enter through a separate entrance. The murals and artwork are beautiful, and it's really a hidden place.
St. James's Church is still a good attraction, but when I went there at noon, the photos taken from the front were the back view. It didn't feel ideal. The photos taken after walking to the back feel a bit monotonous.
St. James Church St. James Church is located at the intersection of King Street and Macquarie Street in Sydney, north of Hyde Park. The St. James Metro Station is named after her. This area was the earliest area developed by the Sydney pioneers, and the surrounding buildings can be regarded as the oldest in Sydney. She is an Australian historical and cultural heritage.
