Nanyuan was built in the Wanli Year of the Ming Dynasty. It was built by the prime minister Wang Wensu (the word Xijue), covering an area of more than 30 acres. It mainly has the "Xianxuetang", "Tan Yingxuan" and "Xiangtao Pavilion" Zhusheng. It is the place where Wang Zaixiang handles government affairs and breeds plum culture. Taicang folks also call Nanyuan "Tai Shifu".
