Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall
#wheretogo #taipei
The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei is a must-visit for its historical significance. It is considered to be one of Taiwan’s landmarks. The grand monument honors Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, a pivotal figure in modern Chinese history.
The site's majestic hall, serene gardens, and the changing of the guard ceremony offer a unique cultural experience. Visitors can gain insights into the region’s complex history.
This is one of the top tourist attractions in Taipei and a must-see.
Memorial Building in Taipei
#timetotravel
Beautiful memorial building in Taipei that is free of charge.
I visited in late July and it was very hot and humid, so I did not spend that much time outdoor exploring.
As I am writing this post, I found out that every hour there would be changing of guards. It is such a shame that I had missed it…
Because of the heat, I spent more time indoor at the level one gallery since it is air conditioned. Exhibits are all related to human rights and Taiwan’s history and some contain political messages.

Iconic Place to visit!
The Place (Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall) that you shouldn’t miss in Taipei, Taiwan! I was so astonished at the intricate details of the building. The entire complex is very clean and beautiful. Come before 12 noon to witness the changing of the guards and get a close up view of the monument. There is also a wide garden beside the monument. You can enjoy taking pictures and enjoy sightseeing 🩵
It’s worth it! Highly recommended! #taipeitravel
Chiang kai shek
The Memorial Hall is white with four sides. The roof is blue and octagonal, a shape that picks up the symbolism of the number eight, a number traditionally associated in China with abundance and good fortune. Two sets of white stairs, each with 89 steps to represent Chiang's age at the time of his death, lead to the main entrance. The ground level of the memorial houses a library and a museum documenting Chiang Kai-shek's life and career, with exhibits detailing Taiwan's history and development. The upper level contains the main hall, in which a large statue of Chiang Kai-shek is located, and where a guard mounting ceremony takes place at regular intervals.

Shilin Night Market Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Shilin Night Market
Shilin Night Market is very large and one of the most famous night markets in Taipei. Although it has a reputation for being more touristy, we decided it was a necessary stop on our first trip to Taiwan. There were several food stalls that had Michelin recommendations, and we ate some delicious cold sesame noodles at one of them. Stinky tofu was another very popular food item. There were also long queues for some of the sausages.

In Taiwan, instead of heading to the many cafes and restaurant, one thing that you should never miss out is the night markets located around the city of taipei. Of course, Shilin Night Market is the night market that both locals and foreigners are well aware off when visiting taipei. Shilin is popular since it is located in the heart of taipei and is located around many schools, therefore attracting the many locals. The prices in the food street here in Shilin are also much lower than the ones sold in the mall and plus, the vendors cook the food fresh right infront of your eyes.
Make sure you come here with an empty stomach, because there is too many stall vendors here and im sure one night wont be able for you to try each and every stall. Shilin market is open everyday and it is located at: No. 101, Jihe Rd, Shilin District, Taipei City, Taiwan 111
Shilin night market
Busy night market in taiwan! The atmosphere was an experience and the street food were really good! We tried the grilled squid, fried milk cube, potato prince and fried chicken! Night market is easily accessible by train. Be prepared to spend at least two hours at the night market. Other than food, there are also games to play where you are able to win soft toys and also many clothes and fashion shops:) #nightmarket #shilinnightmarket #foodie

Authentic Taipei Food Experience
Raohe Night Market is one of the traditional night markets in Taipei and is a must visit to get an authentic taste of taiwanese food. There are plenty of stalls in the night market to choose from and try out.
The entrance arch of the night market also very instaworthy so remember to take a few shots there.
Alright, speaking about food experience in Raohe, there’s one thing which is a die die must-try is the PEPPER BUNS ! Their pepper buns really is piping hot juice oozing out from the bite; WARNING: is really piping hot so be aware. Other food to try is smelly tofu and fried milk curds.

Popular Market selling Taiwanese Streetfood
#taipei
Lots of food! It's mostly a 2 lane street walk.
So you can walk down one lane with stalls flanking both sides and do a loop back to visit stores in the parallel lane. Set aside about 2 hrs to complete the route (including eating time).
There are some clothing and toy stores as well. But the main draw is clearly the food.
When in doubt on what to eat, just join the queue :)
Didn't see any toilets around so you may want to go before you go.
Tip: Come around 6pm as Stalls only start to set up at around 5:30pm.

Raohe night market has many many good stalls!
There are food stall on the both side of the walkway, you can walk down one lane with stalls flanking both sides and do a loop back to visit stores in the parallel lane.
There are some clothing and toy stores as well. But the main thing here is clearly the food. Most of the good food will have a long queue despite is drizzling.
This 2 food are my personal favourite! Rice Dumping on ice and Pepper meat bun!
One thing to take note that there are no toilet available in the night market so the nearest one will be at the metro station!

Shi-men Ting Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Eat, Eat and Eat in Taipei 🍜🍨🍧🍡🥢
#timetotravel
Shi-Men Ting (also known as Ximending) is the hippy district in Taipei where all the youngsters gather. As can be seen in the rainbow street 🌈, it no doubt is Taipei’s largest LGBT district. You can also find one of the oldest architecture, Red House (红楼).
The streets are filled with countless of clothing shops, photobooths, claw machines, restaurants, and most certainly street food.
On paper, Shi-Men Ting is a daytime + nighttime pedestrian shopping district in Taipei. However, most shops are not open until noon, so I would recommend visiting at night. But do note Shi-Men Ting can get really crowded with visitors at night.
List of restaurants I tried:
- “An Zong Mee Sua” for noodles
- “Tian Tian Li” for oyster pancake (however I got sick eating this so would not recommend)
- “王福芋圓” for taro ball dessert
- “Ya Rou Bian 鸭肉扁” for 1/4 duck and duck noodles

Xingfutang - A Shout Out Worth Queuing For!
#newyearadventure #xingfutang #bubbletea #drinks #taiwan #taipei #ximen #foodie #mustry #musteat
Xingfutang is one of the many popular bubble tea store brands that has been well established and franchise world wide.
But when you are here, you should at least give this original Xingfutang a try. The boba here is so soft and chewy and it seems like it melts in your mouth. That explains the long queue!
Also, you will able to see how the staff process the bubble tea, cook it and into your cup! They too have a set meal that comes with fried chicken where its sold everywhere. Well, in my own opinion, the chicken was just alright, nothing too fantastic. But for sure the bubble tea is a MUST go for! Please don't miss this out! Ask for the burnt brown sugar ones, you will be able to have some of the brown sugar crisp found in your drink too.

Ximending Foodie Street Heaven
#newyearadventure #foodie #food #taiwanese #popular #ximending #ximen #wanhua
If you are travelling to Taiwan, do not miss out travelling to ximending which is located at ximen Station. You will not miss the place, especially if you take the train, as the exit will lead you right out into the heart of the street stalls and shopping vendors.
A few things here you have to try:
1. Ximen Ay Chung Rice Noodles located at: No. 8-1號, Emei St, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108
2. Hot Star Fried Chicken located at: No. 36, Hanzhong St, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108
3. Xin Fu Tang located at: No. 101號, Hanzhong St, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108
These are the 3 things you should at least try when you are here in Ximending. Queues can be insanely long, but they move rather fast.
