Georgia on My Mind
No, I am not talking about that Georgia referred to in the song. Instead, we will explore Georgia, a tiny country at the intersection of Europe and Asia.
Georgia is a former Soviet republic that’s home to Caucasus Mountain villages and Black Sea beaches. The capital city is Tbilisi and is one of the oldest cities in the world
Dzveli Tbilisi, or Old Tbilisi, is a large area known for its snaking lanes, traditional Tbilisi houses, and restaurant-lined Jan Shardeni Street.
There are a lot of historical places to visit in Georgia, some of which still dates back to the Bible.
The best time to visit Tbilisi is durint Fall. From July to September you can still avoid extreme summer heat and humidity and freezing winter.

The old town area of Tbilisi is really quite charming. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of it under reconstruction which is great for future tourists. It has an interesting mix of architectural styles and is well worth a stroll around.
Tbilisi's Old Town is probably one of its most charming features, situated between the river and the Narikala Fortress up on the hill, it has some amazing views.
There are many restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops in this area as well, it's a good place to visit by day, as well as for a night out.

[Walking in the exotic city of Tbilisi] The old city is the essence of Tbilisi, suitable for leisurely stop and go, shooting the beauty of the literary style. Exquisite coloured Caucasian wooden balconies decorate the streets and buildings with vicissitudes of life, and the ubiquitous comet is a gentle presence.

Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi
Welcome to the main church not only of Tbilisi, but of the whole of Georgia!
This church is better known in Georgian as Sameba and was built in 2004 and it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area.
The building looks simply colossal and can be seen from almost any hill in Tbilisi.
Visiting tips: Church attendance is free, but you must dress appropriately. Also next to the church there is a small restaurant of the Lagidze chain with very tasty beverages. I advise you to try it!

True Georgian authentic culture
There is an amazing beautiful park around the biggest church in city Tbilisi, Georgia. The magnificent stairs leading to church make it feel like pilgrimage. There is a beautiful pond with birds which is quite unusual. The church itself is smaller than I thought, but the ceilings are extremely high which gives it a feeling of reaching the sky. Gorgeous place!

Narikala Castle Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Short hiking in Tbilisi
First of all, I recommend you to start hiking from getting to Mother of Georgia. Find steps near Betlemi Chirch and go up ⬆️
After the monument go to the side of Kura river and enjoy the view! Soon you will be next to the next place - Chirch of the St Nicholas. Newly built in 1996–1997, it replaces the original 13th-century church that was destroyed in a fire.
Also you will see Narikala fortress. The fortress consists of two walled sections on a steep hill between the sulphur baths and the botanical gardens of Tbilisi.

Castle with best view of Tbilisi
After such a long flight, we finally arrived in Tbilisi. We went straight to Narikala castle fearing the sun would go down.
It was on the top of the hill therefore the driver must have excellent driving skill to reach the top.
The view was absolutely beautiful but there was so much dust (PM2.5) so the view was not so clear, but acceptable.
I think this place offered the best view of Tbilisi.
Entrance fee: None
Parking: available
Not too crowded
Narikala is an ancient fortress overlooking Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and the Mtkvari River. The fortress consists of two walled sections on a steep hill between the sulfur baths and the botanical gardens of Tbilisi.
Catch the cable car up to the Fortress - easiest way to get there.
An ancient fortress dating back to the 4th Century.
The Mother of Armenia statue is located near to the Fortress.
From this vantage point there are very wide views of Tbilisi and the Mtkvan River.
From the Fortress we walked down via Botanical Street and had a quick visit to the Mosque.

Bridge Of Peace Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Architecture showcasing peace
The Bridge of Peace in Georgia is a modern pedestrian bridge located in the heart of Tbilisi, the capital city. It was designed by the Italian architect Michele De Lucchi and was completed in 2010. The bridge is characterized by its futuristic, bow-shaped design, made primarily of glass and steel. It spans the Kura River, connecting the historic Old Town with the new district of Rike Park. At night, the Bridge of Peace is illuminated with thousands of LED lights, creating a stunning visual display that reflects off the water below. It has become an iconic symbol of Tbilisi's modernization and architectural innovation.#Georgia #trip #travel #art
Mysterious Georgia, a niche travel guide
Another visa-free country~ Georgia🇬🇪 The land of gods and wine Station 1-Tbilisi📍Holy Trinity Cathedral📍The bridge of peace📍Liberty Square📍The clock tower It is recommended to choose accommodation near Liberty Square, the attractions are very close, basically walking is ok, and there are large shopping malls and metro, the transportation is very convenient, you can use bolt or yandex go for taxi, the taxi from the airport to Liberty Square is only about 20TL guide free travel attractions
Tbilisi is a city that is very suitable for city walks
Tbilisi is a city that is very suitable for city walks
Because the main attractions are relatively concentrated, you can basically visit them all in one day.
It is recommended to stay near the old city, where you can eat, drink, play and rent a car in one go, which is very convenient. I have summarized a route that does not go back, and I think it is quite reasonable.
The route is as follows:
Take the cable car up the mountain to Narikala Fortress, Mother Fortress, take the cable car down the mountain to visit the old city
Peace Bridge Clock Tower Freedom Square
Take the popular small train up the mountain to Mtatsminda
Mtatsminda Park Holy Trinity Church
Let's talk about a few main attractions:
1 Narikala Fortress: Search for Narikala Fortress, here you can take the cable car up the mountain, walk to the left of the end point, and go down a small section of the mountain, you can see the gate of the fortress, go in, you can overlook the city of Tbilisi. In addition to taking the cable car, you can actually climb up from the street below.
2 Mother Fortress: On the right hand side of the cable car up the mountain, keep walking, and you will see the mother statue. It is in a different direction from the fortress. Don't get it wrong here. Of course, you can go to either first. But if you want to walk down the mountain, you can go to see the mother statue first, then go to the fortress, and you can go down the mountain directly after visiting.
3 Peace Bridge: It is considered a landmark building in Tbilisi, connecting the new city and the old city. This bridge doesn't need to be visited specifically, it's a modern building, just overlook it from the mountain.
4 Clock Tower: Search for The Clock Tower, also known as the Puppet Clock Tower, it should be the most famous landmark in Tbilisi. Go on the hour to see the puppet ringing the bell. Go at 12 noon or 7 pm, and you will see more puppets coming out. In fact, there is a puppet theater next to it, and there is a ticket office under the clock tower, where you can buy puppet show tickets. If you have time, you can go and see.
5 Mtatsminda Park: Search for Mtatsminda Park, this is a amusement park, you can reach it by taking the popular small train, it is also on the mountain, with a wider view. It is recommended to take a ride on the Ferris wheel on the mountain, which can be said to be almost the highest point that tourists in Tbilisi can reach. The city view from above is very beautiful.
6 Holy Trinity Church: This church must be visited at night to see the night view, it is really beautiful. We went during the day and at night, and we believe that this church is the most beautiful church in the entire Georgia journey.
Here is a brief introduction to the popular cable car and the popular small train
1 Cable car: One-way 2.5 lari/person, you need to get a card, the card fee is 2 lari, and multiple people can use it. This card can also be used for buses or subways,
2 Small train: One-way 10 lari/person, you also need to get a card, the card fee is 2 lari, and multiple people can use it. This card can also be used to play various amusement facilities in the amusement park on the mountain. If you want to play, you can recharge some money in the card in advance. The Ferris wheel we took was 10 lari/person.
Georgia travel recommendation, Tbilisi.
During the day, climb up to the Nariqala Fortress and overlook Tbilisi. You will feel that Tbilisi at this moment is like a polite gentleman, comfortable, clean and decent.
Looking from the mountaintop, I can see the Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Peace Bridge again. Tbilisi is not big, and many attractions are concentrated.
Nariqala Fortress
Ticket: Free
Recommended play time: 2 hours
tips: The cost of cable car to go up the mountain is 3 Lari

Freedom Square Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Georgia | You will be healed by a one-day CityWalk in Tbilisi
| You will be healed by a one-day CityWalk in Tbilisi. The old town of Tbilisi is small and well-connected, making it a perfect city for strolling! We stayed near Liberty Square, which is also the center of Tbilisi, and from there, you can head in any direction for different views.
Liberty Square was established during the 19th century under Russian rule, and heading southwest → Tbilisi Sioni Cathedral, you'll pass by various coffee shops and flower shops. There's a delicious ice cream shop called Luca Polare that you should try if you come across it 🍦
Crossing the Kura River takes you to → Metekhi Church, where there are many boats and sightseeing buses soliciting passengers along the river. If you're tired, you can take a boat ride to enjoy the breeze, which is very chill.
Exiting Metekhi Church and heading north, you'll reach Tbilisi's famous golden-domed church → Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the Caucasus region. They provide free headscarves at the entrance, and the interior dome is very high, worth a visit ⛪️
Return to → Rike Park and take the cable car up the mountain. Along the way, you'll encounter the Peace Bridge, and nearby there's a tunnel with graffiti on both sides that tells the history of Georgia during the Soviet era, quite interesting 📝
At Rike Park cable car station, you can buy a transportation card to take the cable car up the mountain. After getting off the cable car, to the left → Narikala Fortress, to the right → Mother Georgia statue. Narikala Fortress dates back to the 4th century during Persian rule, coinciding with the establishment of Tbilisi. You can walk up the fortress walls for photos; the higher you climb, the better the view, haha. Behind the fortress is the National Botanical Garden, which is also worth a visit if you have time.
Following the same path back, you can see the Mother of Georgia statue built to celebrate the 1500th anniversary of Tbilisi. We happened to catch the sunset 🌄, bought a cup of coffee, and sat by the roadside watching the sunset. The lights of Tbilisi began to rise sparsely from all around, and the golden dome of the Holy Trinity shone even more brilliantly at night. Afterwards, there are small paths on both sides of the Mother of Georgia statue that lead down the mountain. Walking straight down leads to Gudiashvili Square, with lots of delicious restaurants nearby 🍴
That's the CityWalk of attractions. In the next part, we'll continue with the market and wine festival 🍷

Some of the streets in Tbilisi are very good for retaining the architecture of the Soviet period, while some streets are very beautifully presented with European-style architecture.
During the walk to the Peace Bridge at Liberty Square, these two types of buildings are constantly blending. The more the
is near the Freedom Square, the more cars there are. The buildings on both sides of the window began to change from the old Soviet architecture to a relatively modern European architecture.
style is like the atmosphere of Soviet Russia, it is really a country that has experienced those years.
Before I went there, I learned a little about the Freedom Square. The glittering gold markers were created after independence. Before that, it was full of Russian Lenin. After independence, he pushed Lenin and replaced it with St. George's Dragon Slayer.
As for the reason, probably no one can tell. Anyway, such a magnificent sculpture plus the rare turntable road in Tbilisi, naturally became the center of the city.
