The National Museum of Anthropology was opened in September 1964 and has a high status in the history of anthropology. It is a very large museum in Latin America. The museum displays Mexican Indian civilization, Aztec civilization and Mayan civilization. The National Museum of Anthropology itself is a model of modern Mexican architecture. The huge umbrella-shaped stone fountain in the Central Hall is the crowning touch. It has also appeared on many postcards of Mexico City. In addition, the National Museum of Anthropology has an introduction to anthropological overviews, Da Vinci theory, prehistoric times, and primitive immigrants from the American continent.
