Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, really eye-opening, so many colorful tropical plants, simply can not illuminate.
This garden is a real delight. We loved all the colorful flowers, the palms, the sculptures and the views of the ocean. The trails are easy to walk, and the day we went there were plenty of staff around to answer our questions. Do bring drinking water and some bug spray, just in case. When you visit is over step into the cool gift shop. They have some museum-quality displays with artifacts and history, and some quality gifts. I bought Hawaii-style Christmas ornaments for the in-laws.
This a fantastic, privately held property, immaculately maintained and beautiful. Paved or raised wooden pathways lead from the headquarters and gift shop through self guided forests. A vast number of palms, flowers and exotics line the paths. Visit a waterfall and one of the prettiest coastal areas.....Onomea Bay.
This is the most beautiful botanical garden I have ever seen. There's a steep boardwalk from the visitor center down to the ocean, but for those with mobility issues there's a golf cart that can take you back and forth from top to bottom. Plan to spend a couple of hours there. It's a lot of walking and a lot to see, all beautiful!
We have a yearly membership. Each time we go do Hilo we stop to marvel at the garden and take any new visitors with us. We often pack our lunch in and eat down by the ocean. While most of the plants are not local, they have all been crafted into a harmonious environment.
Privately owned and maintained tropical gardens that spill down to the ocean. The lush grounds are serene and invite lingering.
