Mauna Kea is situated on Hawaii Island. This is the place where is more similar to the Martian landscape on the Earth. Many movies about space are shot here. This dormant volcano used to be a glacier and is now home to many endangered species. The famous Mauna Kea Observatory on the top of the hill is a rare astronomical observatory.
