Former Residence of Sun Chuanfang

Sun Chuanfang (1885-1935) was born in Licheng, Shandong. During the Beiyang Period, he served as the commander of the Second Division of the Army, the commander-in-chief of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the patrol envoy of Zhejiang and Fujian, the military affairs supervisor of Zhejiang and the commander-in-chief of the coalition forces of the five provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Fujian. Commander etc. Sun's former residence is a two-story building with a brick and wood structure. It covers an area of 3,700 square meters and a total construction area of 2,628 square meters. It consists of two parts: the main building and the annex. The entrance is a stone staircase with four Ionic stone columns. The gently sloping roof with different window shapes and a decorative pavilion in the middle of the roof reflects a simple and elegant European eclectic architectural style. The main building is a two-storey western-style building with a partial basement, a mixed structure, a multi-pitched roof, and a closed corridor around it. The annex on the right is the housing for guards and servants, and the main annex is connected to the children's room. The housing is luxuriously decorated with harmonious tones, simple and elegant. There are four Ionic columns at the front entrance of the facade of the main building, and the second floor is a column veranda with rectangular, circular and mussel-shaped dormer windows. A decorative pavilion is designed in the middle of the roof ridge, reflecting a simple and elegant European style. Eclectic architectural style. The former residence is now used by the Tianjin Family Planning Commission and is listed as a cultural relics protection unit in Tianjin.
