What travelers say:

St. Augustine's Church is one of the churches built during the founding of the New Town of Valletta, Malta, which was built in 1571 and rebuilt in 1765. It was elevated to a parish church in 1968. Some of the artworks in the church are originals from the early church, including one of the important 16th-century paintings by the famous artist Mathia Pretti, by Augustine Nicholas of Torentino. On the left, the first chapel, there is a painting depicting Augustine John, born in Sahagon, Spain, in 1430, and underneath it is a small oil painting of Our Graceful Lady, undated and signed by the author. The church building was listed on the Maltese Islands National List of Cultural Property. During World War II, the area of St. Augustine's Church was densely populated and bombed by aircraft, and bomb shelters were built underneath the church, and oil paintings of the rooms that were bombed were displayed in the church.
