I love this type of museum. The Museum of Natural History (Naturhistorisches Museum Wien) has around 20 million objects, from prehistoric times to insects, minerals, dinosaurs (there’s a whole hall dedicated to them) to extinct animals (or threatened with extinction). You have what to discover here – and this is a great place for children to learn.
Hands down one of the most awesome natural history museums ever. EVER! The design and layout of the exhibits is incredible - it's so upscale, yet so... jam packed with science. It's like walking through a palace (which it probably was) but finding it decorated with... natural history. If you're only going to have time to see one museum in Vienna, see this one. Even for their sense of humor along - seriously, I've never seen a museum be so clever and funny in their exhibits. And consider: I'm saying this as someone who studied art history.
This was the one place I absolutely had to see in Vienna and our first spot. My big motivation was to see the Venus of Willendorf in person. It was WELL worth the trip. Not only did the museum have fantastic exhibits but it is also GORGEOUS and it was clear the people running the museum have a great sense of humor.
Don't miss this hugeeee museum in Vienna!
