The Copernicus Monument should be one of the landmarks in Warsaw. He and Madame Curie are the pride of Poles. Behind this statue is the Polish National Academy of Sciences. He holds the armillary sphere in his hand and his eyes are firm. We learned Copernicus in elementary school textbooks, and we still remember.
The National Science and Technology and the Statue of Copernicus, and Warsaw University on the side. This is the first impression of arriving in Poland. This is a place with a long history. There are many similar statues in the city. It is a city full of cultural atmosphere.
Copernicus is a well-known astronomer and mathematician in Poland. His status is highly valued. Therefore, the country erected monuments and bronze statues for him, forming two different landmarks at both ends of the stone pillars in the castle square.
Nicolas Copernicus is one of the greatest scientists in the world. He is the one who proved that the Earth is going around the sun- in the past people believed that the Earth is the centre of Universe. Kopernik was living in Torun and there is a monument built in his memory in the centre of Torun's Old Town.
The circle around the Copernicus monument is a depiction of the solar system, although the proportions are a bit off.
Copernicus, Chopin and Marshal Pilsudski are the three grand heroes of Warsaw, you can't walk anywhere in this city without stumbling upon a monument, a building or a park named after one of them. This bronze statue of Copernicus in front of the Staszic Palace has the famous astrologer holding an armillary sphere and a compass.
To commemorate the great scientist, I should pay respects if I have the opportunity.
