The main mode of transportation on Weizhou Island is public transportation and electric vehicles. We rented an electric motorcycle at the hotel and started a two-day and one-night trip around the island.
The first stop is the sanctuary. As the largest island in Guangxi, there is a small church on the island of Weizhou, the Catholic Church. This is a traditional Gothic building, built in 1880 and built by the missionary missionaries of Paris, France.
The hall of the church is filled with European style, and its area is more than the many famous churches I have seen in Europe.
Sunlight sprinkled through the colorful glass in the prayer hall, and gave a solemn and holy radiance to the solemn church.
The back of the church is a delicate garden surrounded by a low dwelling house. The mottled walls exude an ancient vicissitudes of life, which is a whisper of years.
The flowers are full of vitality. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the old and the young are mixed together and have a unique taste.
The Shengtang Catholic Church is one of the famous scenic spots on Weizhou Island. Although it is somewhat old, it also has a strong historical trace. The island residents have not done any processing and reconstruction in order to preserve its original appearance.
The whole building of the church was made of corals and shells on the island. The style should be considered very beautiful at the time. It is a classic French Gothic Catholic church. After coming out of the side door of the church, the garden is quiet and elegant, making people feel very relaxed.
This Catholic church, built in 1853, is still an active place for religious activities, and we rushed to sing poetry when we went. Due to the age, there was no reinforced concrete at the time, and the building materials were all taken from the island's corals, rocks and limes, but they are still well preserved.
The garden is shaded by trees, and there are several special flower walls. It is quite comfortable to sit down.
Whether you are renting a small motorbike or walking around here, taking a good-looking photo is worthwhile.
The appearance of the Shengtang Catholic Church on Weizhou Island is somewhat old
A Catholic Church is located in Shengtang Village which lies northeast on Weizhou Island. The Church was built in 1853 in the North Sea area by French Missionaries of the Foreign Missions program in Paris. While this church has a long and continued history, and some of parts of the building have fallen due to disarray and time - the main portion of the church as still remained intact. The building is typical of the Renaissance French Gothic churches found in Europe at the time, it was completed with a towering Romanesque minaret. Compared to the homes and buildings of the surrounding village, the church is a particularly spectacular sight.
