Photos of Old St Paul's

The church is a typical 19th century Gothic Revival building, which is in line with the colonial background at that time in terms of architectural materials and style. Although the building is not big, its arched columns, altars, and stained glass all give people a simple and rustic beauty and a unique atmosphere. The church has huge stained glass windows, and the sun shines through the glass into the city, making the interior of the church look very mysterious. The roof of the church is designed to resemble the hull of an upside-down Queen Elizabeth schooner. There are many flags in the central part of the church. These flags include the flags of the New Zealand Merchant Marine (New Zealand Merchant Navy), the British Royal Navy (Royal Navy) and the second division of the United States Marine Corps (second division of the United States Marine Corps), which were sent after the outbreak of World War II. over here. In 1964, after the new church was built, the old church was put under state management and opened to the public. The interior of the church can be visited except on Sundays. Today, the Old St. Paul's Church is no longer a parish church, but it is still sacred because of its deep-rooted historical background. Tourists now see it as an attraction, and local residents gather here to hold ceremonies during funerals and weddings.
