How to Get to Islas de Gigantes
The nearest airports to Carles are those that are in Roxas City and Iloilo City.
From Roxas City Airport to Islas de Gigantes
The nearest airport to Carles is the one in Roxas City. From this city, it would only take approximately to hours to reach Carles.
From Roxas Airport take a tricycle to the bus terminal. Tricycle in Roxas City would charge PHP 150 for a chartered trip.
Take a Ceres Bus Bound for Carles. Travel time would take approximately 2 hours and would cost you approximately PHP 175.00. Tell the driver to drop you in Balasan. There are also Vans traveling to Carles which departs Roxas City as early as 6 am. Vans normally traveled fast and cheaper than the bus. But the bus, of course, is more comfortable.
The moment you reach Balasan, take a tricycle to Bancal Port which is the jump-off point for Gigantes Island.
Hotels now need to comply with much stricter rules if they want to stay open. Do not forget to check the list of hotels accredited by the Department of Tourism posted on their website.
2. Reservation Slips
You need to present the accredited-hotel reservation slips to local officials before you enter the island. Do not forget to print them out!
You’ll find designated booths in Kalibo and Caticlan airports. For those coming from Iloilo and Aklan, you’ll also find booths in the Caticlan Jetty Port.
3. Entry Form
When you are at the booths, you also need to fill out a Department of Tourism Tourist Arrival Form. You can download the form on their website and accomplish it beforehand to save time.
4. Drop-Off and Pick-Up Points and Schedule
To maintain the island’s 19,000 daily carrying capacity, docking time of boats to and from Caticlan island (the jump-off point to Boracay Island) is limited to 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM only. You can then take a boat from the Caticlan Jetty Port to the Cagban or the Tambisaan Port (two ports on Boracay island).
Take note of this when booking your flights. Late arrivals and departures are allowed, but you’ll need the approval of the Philippine Coast Guard and the administration of the Caticlan Jetty Port.
Imagine lying down on powdery white-sand beaches, while the sun rises over clear blue waters...During the day, ride a boat and hop from one rustic island to another…Then watch the island come to life at night, while the bass drops and strobes of light dance on the sand.
It’s no surprise Boracay constantly appears on lists of the top beaches on the planet. You get a taste of both worlds here—you can bask in the quiet of being far away from the city’s noise, while still enjoying some of the amenities of urban living.
Boracay is one of the few islands I LOVE going back to. I make it a point to return every year.
Now if you think Boracay is too expensive to visit, let me give you a more wallet-friendly guide so you can enjoy one of the top tourist spots in the Philippines.
When Is The Best Time to Visit?
Now that rehab is over, you can visit the island year-round.
And since it is located in the Philippines, prepare for weather that can either be scorching hot or drench you in a deluge of rainwater. There is no in-between.
Being a travel blogger and a true-blooded Negrense and Bacolodnon, I feel that it is a must that I should write an extensive travel guide which will surely help travelers when doing a Bacolod Tour.
Before planning your Bacolod Tour, it would be great for you to know the schedule of the 3 major festivals in Bacolod City. You might want to visit the city during these events.
Please take note that during the Masskara Festival almost all hotels are fully booked, so you are advised to book your hotels at least 3 months in advance.
Bacolaodiat Festival (held during Chinese New Year)
Masskara Festival (held every October with its highlights on the 4th Sunday of the same month)
Panaad sa Negros Festival ( help every April)
Bacolod City is easy to navigate and the sample itineraries presented below are designed to help solo travelers. i have visited several times Campuestohan Highland Resorts together with our whole family. Obviously, our kids really love the place so early this year we’ve we went back again to the resort and to have a late celebration for my sister’s 50th Birthday. Campuestohan is one of the colorful attractions and famous tourist destinations in Negros Occidental. Situated on the boundaries of two of the most progressive cities in the province – Bacolod City and Talisay City, Campuestohan Highland resort is standing in a 5-hectare property that radiates the splendor of Mt. Makawili.
In our latest visit to the resort, I took the opportunity to take a dip in the swimming pool, walk through the gardens, have fun on the playground with my nephews and nieces. While some of my siblings simply relax and unwind. In time, I will surely go horseback riding should they open it. The place has a 340-meter zip line and zip bike but I guess its too short.
As of this writing, Campuestohan Highland Resort has a kiddie and big pools, cottages, log house, children’s playground which they have imported from China, a huge slipper, uniquely designed onion-shaped and igloo-like camp houses, several dinosaurs, statues of superheroes and giants. One should never miss the chance to take their selfie right beside the Incredible Hulk, Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Thor, wonder woman, the Green Lantern and many more. Or take your groupie with the famous icons in the world like Elvis Presley and Michael Jordan. One will surely be amazed when King Kong would start to growl which can be heard while at the resort.
Boracay is back! Well, it didn’t really leave. It was just closed to visitors for six months in 2018, which sparked countless debates. The good news is, it has been reopened to tourists! There have been some changes and new policies, so we’re publishing a brand new BORACAY TRAVEL GUIDE with sample itinerary to help you plan your trip. If you’ve been to the island prior to closure, this guide can also serve as your short refresher.
