Union Church

The Concorde Chapel in Gulangyu Island is the earliest church on the island, located on Lujiao Road, completed in 1863. It was renovated in 1911 and renamed the Concorde Chapel. The exterior walls of the Concorde Chapel have "Proverbs of Love" and "Ten Commandments", all from Genesis, 1 Corinthians and Exodus. Mr. Lin Yutang, a famous literary artist, and his wife Jade Feng, had a wedding here, which covered the church with a romantic story. Now many young people like to go here to take pictures of wedding dresses.

This place is not far from the underwater world. It was originally a place where foreigners worshipped and spread religion. Now it is one of the famous buildings on Gulangyu Island. I like to take wedding dresses to view it. There are many Western-style buildings around it. The scenery is good.

Coming out of the old post office, we saw many new people wearing formal clothes heading in the same direction, and in less than two minutes we saw the chapel. Sure enough, I saw many people taking wedding photos. The church is not open, but the open space outside is full of new people taking pictures, but to tell the truth, the landscape is just ordinary.

Gulangyu has been forcibly established as a public concession since the beginning of the twentieth century. Western powers and even the Japanese Empire have established their own concessions and built many consulates in Gulangyu. These different forms have created the title of Gulangyu as the Museum of Universal Architecture. The arrival of foreigners also brought their religion. This chapel is the most famous in the southeast.

Unfortunately, it is not open to the outside world. There are ten commandments and mottos of love outside. Photographs are good. The Concorde Chapel should be the most unlike the church. I have never seen the highest place on the roof of the church without a cross. Such a classical design is more like the architectural style of the Greek temple, concise, low-key, practical, not too much decoration, but there is a kind of elegant, solemn, pure aesthetic feeling, and perfect wedding photo background.

It's a joke to go to Gulangyu to see other people's brides, but you do see many brides taking wedding photos here, especially in front of Concorde Chapel. European architecture with wedding dress, beautiful, front door love motto also implies the harmony and happiness of marriage.

Simple in appearance, exotic in interior. Stained glass, bronze chandeliers, everything is like the scene in the movie. Imagine that the wedding photos taken in it must be very artistic.
