About Xichang

Xichang (西昌), in southwestern Sichuan Province, is the capital of Liangshan (凉山) Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The climate of Xichang rivals that of Kunming (昆明), with spring-like balminess year-round. For that reason, Xichang is nicknamed “Little Spring Town.” Another of this city’s nicknames is “Space Flight Town” because of the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on its northern side. Natural attractions such as Qionghai (邛海) Lake and Lushan (泸山) Mountain, fascinating minority ethnic customs, and modern aerospace activity can all be experienced in Xichang, making it a clear highlight in the Pan–Xi (攀西) tourism belt.

Mountain
Lushan Mountain is also known as Washan Mountain. Located on the south bank of Qionghai Lake to the south of Xichang City, it is one of Sichuan's provincial-level scenic spots. Qionghai Lake is to the east, the Anning River to the west, the historical ancient city of Xichang to the north and Luoji Mountain to the south. Atop the mountain, the ancient trees reach for the sky. The pine trees in particular are especially lush. The winding forest roads on Lushan Mountain go on for miles and miles. The pines and cypresses alongside the road encourage visitors to continue traveling deeper into the mountains until they eventually reach the top. There are more than ten ancient temples including the Guangfu Temple, Mengduan Temple and Sanjiao Nunnery, which were built in the Han, Tang, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
