Yingtan

Yingtan (鹰潭) is the birthplace of Taoism in China, and since ancient times has been known as the “dwelling of the Immortals” and the “human land of happiness” on Earth. The region is characterized by the famous Mount Longhu, one of the birthplaces of Taoism, Danxia landforms and the large-scale cliff tombs from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, which have made Yingtan a world-class tourist destination. Other natural and cultural places of interest include Sihan Tianshi Mansion, Baihe Lake, Guigu Cave, Xianglu Peak, Sanyang Dongfu, Xiangshan Academy (one of the four major academies during the Southern Song Dynasty), the site of the revolutionary base in Northeast Jiangxu and Shangqing Ancient Town. It also features the culture of the She ethnic minority.
