I am self-confessed Korean Drama fanatic which is the reason why I started studying Korean Language and eventually came to Korea. The first time I visited Korea, one of the my to do list is visit Korean Folk Village. This place is very interesting and you can experience various Korean cultures such as traditional Korean wedding, Samulneori, and just strolling around the place will makes you feel you went back in time. Best time to visit Korean Folk Village is during Autumn so you can see the beautiful colors of foliage as you explore the village.
Want to travel back to the past and see how the Koreans lived their lives in the olden days? Then you will need to visit the Korean Folk Village. With houses built in about 243 acres, the natural environment atmosphere let visitors experience over 260 traditional houses built during the late Joseon Dynasty. All these beautiful buildings are restored to provide visitors with a broad understanding of Korean’s food, fashion, housing designs between the poor and the wealthy and traditional customs of the past.Feel free to visit my blog for the 2 parts of my posts at1. http://lemon-film.com/korean-folk-village-part-12-2/ 2. http://lemon-film.com/korean-folk-village-part-22-2/ for more details and photographs.
If you want a good taste of Korean culture, I would highly recommend a trip out to the Korean Folk Village. You will be able to not only see, but experience Korean history and culture. You can get snippets of everything from palace to the peasant life. There are a lot of great shows as well. While the farmer's dance is a must-see, you can also see other great things like performances of wedding rituals and acrobatics. Of course, there is also great food. You can see the giant kimchi pots and experience traditional Korean alcohols. And of course, for those of you like me who are suckers for markets, there is a beautiful market full of folk art and crafts.
Very colourful and traditional!
Located about an hour train ride from Seoul (to Suwon) and with a shuttle bus to reach there, this is one of the more popular folk villages. Nice scenery all around and best of all it's not crowded at all. Oh, and they have rides there too. Best time to go would be at fall, I deem.
Amazing. Totally built for tourists, but I really enjoyed it here. Saw some great feats occur here. The dancers here were amazing and the performance of from the tightrope and seesaw jumpers were great. Some great photo opportunities here. The village is great to visit too if you are into stuff like the renaissance fair or like old historical living.
