The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, commonly known as the Cathedral of Zagreb, is one of the landmarks in Zagreb. The church, in Gothic style, was destroyed in the earthquake of 1880 and rebuilt in 1899. The church has 13th-century frescoes, Renaissance pews, a marble altar and a Baroque pulpit. Churches are the main places for citizens to pray and other activities.
