Basílica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Spain Zaragoza
On the first day of the vacation, we started a self-driving tour in northern Spain. The first stop was Zaragoza, the fifth largest city in Spain. The weather was sunny when we were in the natural park, but it suddenly turned cloudy and rainy in the afternoon. Unfortunately, it was also the time when we arrived at the famous Basilica del Pilar, and the rain was the heaviest. So we couldn't take photos and had to download one from the internet (picture one). However, the city is beautiful and the first stop is nice.
There are modern buildings with geometric styles and ancient historical sites from thousands of years ago; even though you are heading north towards Portugal, you can still see the southern French charm of vast fields of green chrysanthemums; this is Zaragoza, a city worth visiting if you have the chance.

The Monastery, whose name translates literally as 'The Stone Monastery', was founded in 1194 when Alfonso II, the king of Aragon, donated a castle and the land surrounding it to thirteen Catholic monks from the Order of the Cistercians. The castle dated back to the period of the Muslim Caliphate of Córdoba (929-1031) and had been a Muslim defensive stronghold during the battles against the Christian kingdoms of Northern Spain.
