Zhenjiang
Zhenjiang is known for three oddities: its vinegar is so fragrant it never spoils, cured meat is not considered a dish, and pot lids are cooked inside the pot. Xijindu is the ferry crossing where Marco Polo landed before he came to the Yangtze River. The scenery along the Yangtze River is still quite beautiful, and you can try the Zhenjiang vinegar 😁. Nearby is the Jinshan Temple, the place associated with the legend of the White Snake Lady flooding the Jinshan Temple.
Context of Zhenjiang
After visiting the Zhenjiang Museum, you come out to the Xijindu Ancient Street, which is the "context" of the historical and cultural city of Zhenjiang.
Xijindu Ancient Street was founded during the Six Dynasties period and has been developed through the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, preserving a large number of historical traces to this day.
Climbing up the plank road, you will encounter Guanyin Cave, Zhao Guan Stone Pagoda, Life Saving Society, 'A Glimpse of a Thousand Years'... until you reach the Yuntai Pavilion at the mountain top.
At the foot of the mountain is the antique street with its grey tiles and green bricks, historical buildings, former residences of famous people, dining delicacies, cultural creativity... and the 'Fifty-Three Stations' mural on the wall.
The romantic sentiment in the poet's eyes, the perilous riverside in the warrior's eyes, the deep historical roots in the traveler's eyes... everyone sees a different Xijindu.

Jinshan Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Exploring the Serenity and Beauty of Jinshan
Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang, China, is a beautiful and serene temple complex that offers visitors a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. The temple is located on a hill overlooking the city, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
One of the most impressive features of Jinshan Temple is its architecture, which is a blend of traditional Chinese and Buddhist styles. The temple's buildings are adorned with intricate carvings and decorations, showcasing the incredible skill of the artisans who created them.
Visitors to Jinshan Temple can explore the many halls and pavilions, each of which houses beautiful statues, paintings, and artifacts. The temple also features a beautiful garden with rock formations, ponds, and bridges, offering a tranquil setting for meditation and reflection.
One of the most popular activities at Jinshan Temple is hiking up to the top of the hill to enjoy the panoramic views of the city and the Yangtze River. The hike is relatively easy and takes about 20-30 minutes to complete, but it offers a beautiful perspective on the temple complex and the surrounding scenery.
1 day trip in Zhenjiang? A temple to go
The Jinshan Temple is a popular Buddhist temple attraction in Zhenjiang. If you are fan of Chinese architecture and ancient culture, this is the right place to go.
This temple was initially established in Eastern Jin dynasty (323-325 BC), later became a Taoist temple. Fomerly known as Longyou Temple, became Jinshan Temple during Yuan dynasty. This temple was classified as national key Buddhist temple in 1983.
This temple presents an architectural complex of buildings, halls towers and the special 36m octagonal Cishou Pagoda in the top of the hill. The view from the summit is magnificent. Might be difficult for some people to reach til the summit of the hill, nevertheless the beautiful lake in the base of the temple presents an additional opportunity for a joyful walk.

Don't Miss Out Jinshan Temple😍🌸
#cherryblossom2024
I thought Suzhou was already very beautiful until I came to Zhenjiang Hello. As the saying goes, fireworks set in Yangzhou in March. If you're going to Yangzhou, make sure to go to Zhenjiang and take the Sanyuan Ferry. You'll be there to see the sunset net, eat pot covered noodles, and see Jinshan Temple. Climbing the Beigu Tower, surrounded by poetry and poetry, you'll definitely fall in love with this Jiangnan style small town
Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang

Mount Jin Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
His virtues are forever cherished
To commemorate Wang Renkan, the people of Zhenjiang built a 'Wang Gong Temple' to the south of Zhongling Spring on Mount Jingshan in the western suburbs, and constructed an octagonal pavilion by the spring, named 'Jian Pavilion', symbolizing Wang Renkan's noble spirit and integrity, as clear and reflective as the pool water. In 2017, to present the precious historical materials of Wang Renkan's diligent and honest governance to future generations, Zhenjiang established the Wang Renkan Memorial Hall. The couplet inside the hall reads: 'For the people, he loved, cared, and closely connected with great deeds that will be forever recorded in history; with honest, diligent, and practical governance, his noble spirit and integrity enlighten the future generations,' which is a high summary of Wang Renkan's official demeanor.
Jinshan, the foremost among the three mountains
Located in the northwest of the main urban area of Zhenjiang City, Jinshan boasts secluded and exquisite scenery, and its natural beauty has made it one of China's famous tourist destinations since ancient times. Originally, Jinshan was an island standing in the middle of the Yangtze River, known for its beauty as 'a lotus flower in the heart of the river'. However, due to the eastward flow of the 'Great River', by the end of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (around 1903), it became connected to the mainland.
The Jinshan Scenic Area is the leader of Zhenjiang's 'Three Mountains (Jinshan, Jiaoshan, Beigushan)', consisting of Jinshan Temple, Cishou Pagoda, 'the Number One Spring under Heaven', Pagoda Shadow Lake, Hundred Flowers Islet, and Mirror Sky Garden, among other attractions. For thousands of years, many folk tales such as 'The Legend of the White Snake Floods Jinshan Temple' originated here, and historical figures like Su Dongpo and Yue Fei have formed bonds with Jinshan.
I thought Suzhou was already beautiful, until I went to Zhenjiang
It's more livable than Nanjing, more legendary than Yangzhou, this forgotten millennium-old city is excessively understated in its beauty! That's Zhenjiang! Spring is the perfect season to embark on a journey to Zhenjiang🌸
-
🌟Jinshan Temple
🎫: Off-season 50, peak season 65
A 5A-level scenic spot, the filming location of 'The Legend of the White Snake', the 'Golden Mountain' in 'Water Floods Golden Mountain' refers to this place! The temple is full of ancient trees and singing birds, set against yellow walls and black tiles, offering great visual appeal, with a high photo-taking success rate. There's also the official Jinshan coffee, which tastes decent
-
🌟Xijin Ferry Ancient Street
🎫: 🆓
A historical district, with a main street winding upwards, the foreground features the ancient city lights, and the background is adorned with mountainous temples and pavilions, exuding a sense of the past. Although the alley is not very large, the attractions within are worth stopping to visit. The Zhao Guan Stone Pagoda and Yuntai Pavilion are good for checking in. The downside is that it's very commercialized, and the commercial value for money is not high
-
🌟Zhenjiang Museum (Former British Consulate)
🎫: 🆓 Reservation required
Adjacent to Xijin Ferry Ancient Street, the museum has two exhibition halls, featuring bronze ware, gold and silver ware, and crafts. Admission is free, but reservations must be made in advance on 🍊. There might be street musicians playing outside the museum, which is quite romantic
-
🌟Beigu Mountain
🎫: 30
Steep and towering, standing on the north bank of the Yangtze River, Ganlu Temple is located here, but it's not the one from the story of Huanhuan. There are fewer tourists than at Jinshan, suitable for climbing and enjoying the panoramic view of Zhenjiang
-
🌟Jiangda Back Street Snack Street
🎫: 🆓
Gathering delicacies from all over, reminiscent of the college days, you can come here for the night market. I chose a few stalls with friends, none of which were disappointing, but they were also quite common, and the location is relatively remote
-
🌟Guanyin Bridge Alley
🎫: 🆓
This street has many beautiful shops, mostly coffee shops and simple meals. The reviews are mixed, so it's best to search for ratings before going
-
🚄About transportation: It's very close to Yangzhou, Nanjing, and Shanghai! An excellent choice for weekend trips! The attractions in Zhenjiang are mostly connected and close to each other, making it convenient to take the bus
-
🍜Food recommendation: Pot Cover Noodles (just pick any shop, they're all pretty good), Feiquan's buns
-
❌Avoid: Went to try the loin at the entrance of Yong'an Food Market because of its fame, but it felt very ordinary, not really worth a special trip
-
The Vinegar Exploration Journey | A day trip to Zhenjiang was so much fun
A day trip to Zhenjiang was really enjoyable. Nanjing has been known as a beautiful city, but it wasn't until I set foot in Zhenjiang that I discovered an even more picturesque place! Climbing high for a broad view, tasting delicious food, appreciating beautiful scenery, a main mission about special forces travel made me fall deeply in love with 'Vinegar Capital' Zhenjiang. This trip was so worthwhile! 🌟
📅 Itinerary:
🚄 Vinegar Culture Museum - Yong'an Fish Restaurant - Xijindu - Jingshan - Yong'an Road Market
🏠 Accommodation:
Choosing to stay near Xijindu not only is close to the train station but also makes it very convenient to visit various attractions!
🚌 Transportation:
Although Zhenjiang is not large and the attractions are concentrated, there is no subway. However, taking a taxi or a bus is quite convenient~
📍 Vinegar Culture Museum (1 hour)
Ticket price: 19 yuan
This place is simply a paradise for vinegar lovers! I've already sent two large boxes of fragrant vinegar and vinegar candy back home! Came here for the vinegar ice cream! The soy sauce cheese flavor is really delicious! Zhenjiang vinegar is probably the only thing that can unify the taste buds of Jiangsu!
📍 Jingshan (2 hours)
Ticket price: 45 yuan
The legendary place where the water flooded Jingshan in the White Snake legend! The filming location of the TV series is right here! The ancient temple with yellow walls and black tiles, the bright yellow temple walls, are very photogenic. It is recommended to go around 4 pm, the sunset scenery is breathtaking~
📍 Yong'an Fish Restaurant
Average consumption 60 yuan
This is a local time-honored chain restaurant! Really worth the taste! There are 7 stores, and you can't go wrong with any of them! The owners are all from Zhenjiang, featuring local Zhenjiang cuisine! Touched a pufferfish for the first time, so cute! The fish is fresh and tender, full of collagen flavor, the braised pork is sweet but not greasy, very good with rice! The meatballs are also fragrant! The specialty dishes are all delicious!
📍 Xijindu (2 hours)
No admission fee
This place is really worth a visit! The scenery during the day and night is unique! The historical sites are well preserved, and the streets are quaint and charming! Wearing a new Chinese-style cheongsam for photos, the effect is amazing! Also tried the pot cover noodles!
📍 Yong'an Market (0.5 hours)
Lost in a variety of snacks and can't extricate myself... It's too good to stroll around!
Pork loin skewers, rice cakes, salted egg yolk pork floss baked buns, rice cakes, Yangzhou yogurt... all kinds of treasure shops! Simply can't finish eating!
🖇️ The museum, consulate, and Xijindu are all in one place, suitable for a walk after a meal. If there's time, you can stroll around City Walk together!
The pace of life in Zhenjiang is leisurely, and the cost of living is low! It's quite interesting to spend a day wandering around! If I have the chance, I will come back to play again! 🌿🍜📸

Jiaoshan Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Jiaoshan offers a scenic retreat brimming with vitality
A travel blogger wrote it well: Jinshan has a myth, Beigushan has a history, and Jiaoshan has a culture.
Take the bus to the Jiaoshan Scenic Area station, and right off the bus is the south gate of Jiaoshan, where the ferry docks. The area is not large, akin to a small park, and a stroll for 2-3 hours is quite fitting.
Passing through the mountain gate, the incense at Dinghui Temple wafts gently. Beyond the cliff carvings, robust and tender, they subtly grace the cliffs weathered by time. Ascending the steps, the grandeur of the pavilion is obscured by the surrounding dense forests and bamboo, and the once open view is no longer visible. The Wanfo Pagoda is temporarily closed for maintenance, but as a landmark, it remains a popular subject for photographers.
After passing the Xijiang Tower, circling back to Biefeng An, and descending the steps, a small path leads along the river behind the mountain, directly back to the cliff carvings, and then via the Jiangshan wooden walkway back to the ferry dock. It is sunset, and the journey is exceptionally beautiful.
Jiaoshan, surrounded by water on all sides, floats in the river, likened by the ancients to a floating jade. I think it is perhaps a small piece of jasper, petite in form but broad in spirit. With an elevation of just over 70 meters and a modest size, it is indeed a small piece of jasper. With a broad view, looking towards Zhenjiang, towards the Yangtze River, watching the sunset glow in unison, the heart feels as wide as the heavens and the earth.
Zhenjiang in the rain is like a dreamy misty Jiangnan
☔ Longing for the misty Jiangnan ☔ The childhood yearning for martial arts novels is inseparable from the longing for the misty Jiangnan. I am fortunate to come to Zhenjiang in the rain this time. In the morning, when I push open the window, fine rain threads fall from the sky, this is the misty Jiangnan in my heart!
🌿 Exploring Jiaoshan 🌿 I took a taxi to Jiaoshan in the morning, where all my fantasies about the south are located. Pavilions and towers with black tiles and green bricks are hidden in the deep mountains, along with ancient temples and the Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas. Strolling in Jiaoshan, the sound of birds is melodious, the rain sings like a song, and people with umbrellas pass by leisurely, everything is so comfortable.
🌸 The tranquility of Dinghui Temple 🌸 Coming to Dinghui Temple in Jiaoshan, I quietly listen to the sound of the rain falling, feeling the tranquility of the soul in the ancient pavilions. Groups of visitors, their laughter sounds particularly crisp in the rain, this kind of comfort is indescribable.
✨ The treasure beauty of Zhenjiang ✨ Although Zhenjiang does not have the fame of Yangzhou across the river, it is precisely because of this that one can truly enjoy this wonderful journey. This treasure city, like a pearl in the misty rain, quietly exudes its charming allure.
🌈 Tips 🌈
Jiaoshan in the rain is even more mysterious, remember to bring an umbrella and suitable clothing for rainy weather.
Quietly experience Dinghui Temple and feel the unique beauty of Jiangnan.
In the streets and alleys of Zhenjiang, taste the local cuisine and experience the authentic taste of Jiangnan.
This rainy trip to Zhenjiang is like a dreamy Jiangnan experience. Whether it's the tranquility of Jiaoshan or the unique charm of Zhenjiang, it's all fascinating.
Zhenjiang Impressions
My first visit to Zhenjiang was a tightly scheduled 3-day trip.
✅'Three Mountains and One Ferry' (Jinshan, Jiaoshan, Beigushan, Xijindu), to enjoy the poetic scenery and pursue legends.
✅Zhenjiang Museum, spanning 3000 years of history, allows you to feel the atmosphere of a national historical and cultural city.
✅In the autumn streets, the fragrance of osmanthus is everywhere; in the quiet morning markets, a delicate mist lingers.
✅A big bowl of steaming pot cover noodles is a must-try delicacy, suitable for both meat-eaters and vegetarians, and enjoyed by all ages. (The popular 'Dahua Noodle House' is very down-to-earth)
✅The city is not large, there are not many buses and the intervals are long, so taking a taxi is more convenient for longer distances, while sharing a bike or walking is suitable for shorter distances.
A person's Jiaoshan
Jiaoshan, a small island outside Zhenjiang city.
To get to Jiaoshan, you need to take a few minutes ferry. Today, there is a little rain from time to time, and the wind is also a bit big. The clear sky is certainly a plus, but Jiaoshan in the wind and rain adds a bit more spirit and haze.
Unlike the hot summer, today is a bit cold, plus the wind and rain, and it is not the tourist season, there are not many tourists in the whole Jiaoshan. No matter how the scenery is, a scenic spot without people has won 90%, let alone, the beauty here is beyond doubt.
Quiet temples, shocking steles, rich plants, pick up the steps, come to the highest point of the mountain, unfortunately, the Wanfo Tower is under repair, but the open river surface is enough to make up for this regret.
There was a rainstorm, I have never visited the scenery in the rain, suddenly made me feel that the temple in the rain is more in line with its coldness, and feel that he is out of the world.
I have read a book before, and I remember a sentence very deeply: Do worldly things with a worldly heart, and cultivate a worldly heart with worldly things.
In the temple in the rain, I understand a little more.
Transportation:
Jiaoshan is outside Zhenjiang city, you can take a taxi or bus to get there. But the public bus in Zhenjiang is basically half an hour away.

Beigushan Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Leisurely visit to Zhenjiang - Beigu Mountain.
🌟🌟Because of a line in Xin Qiji's "Memories of the North Tower at Jingkou, Forever Happy" that says "Through the ages, heroes are nowhere to be found, where Sun Zhongmou once stood," he has always been reminded of the ancient history of Beigu Mountain. Of course, Beigu Mountain first became famous during the Three Kingdoms period, when Liu Bei's marriage proposal took place at Ganlu Temple. Later, Emperor Wu of the Southern Liang Dynasty carried the title of "the greatest landscape under heaven," which made the mountain even more renowned. In another poem by Xin Qiji, "Nanxiangzi: Memories of the North Tower at Jingkou," he writes, "Where can I see the divine land? The view from the Beigu Tower fills my eyes. How many events of rise and fall have occurred over the ages? Endlessly, the Yangtze River flows." This poem fully captures the natural beauty and historical significance of Beigu Mountain.
✅✅The main attractions of Beigushan include Ganlu Temple, Beigu Tower, Duojing Tower, the stone carving of "the first mountain under heaven", Iron Tower, Jijiang Pavilion, as well as Henshi, Liuma Ravine, Shijian Stone and the tomb of Taishi Ci.
💰Ticket price: 40
⏳Play time: about 2 hours
🕙Business hours: 07:30-17:00
🚉Transportation Guide: Ganlusi Station: 4, 6, 8, 25, 49, 83, 92, 112, 130, 133, 135, 204, Zhenyang Intercity Bus Line.
