Ziyang City is bordered by Chengdu and Deyang to the north and Chongqing to the east. Ziyang has a long cultural history and many ancient cultural sites. The Anyue (“Peaceful Mountain”) Stone Carvings are of particular interest as another great treasure trove of ancient Chinese carvings. The carvings were begun during the Northern and Southern Dynasties (420-589) and carved mostly during the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties. Among the greatest of the carvings is the 3 meter high “Purple Bamboo Guanyin,” masterfully worked and honored as the “Venus of China.” Here, you can also visit the Buddha of Banyue (“Half Moon”) Mountain, the “Hedong Great Buddha,” the “Camp of (famous Three Kingdoms general) Zhang Fei, and the former residence of Chen Yi, a Chinese communist military commander and eventual PRC foreign minister.
Cherry??2009^_^The most classic stone carvings in Yuanjue Cave are the large niche statues (one Buddha and two Bodhisattvas) in Beiya, that is, the statue of Sakyamuni, the statue of Guanyin in a pure bottle, and the statue of Guanyin with lotus hands. The three images are all about 7 meters in height, with handsome faces, relaxed posture, coordinated proportions and prosperous decoration. In the middle is the niche of "Sakyamuni with a smile on the flower". The Sakyamuni is full of snail buns, dressed in a robe, holding his finger and smiling. On the left is the Jingping Guanyin niche. The Guanyin wears a flower crown on his head and wears a 珞luo. The left hand holds the Jingping bottle, the right hand holds the willow branch, and he walks barefoot on the lotus, showing compassion. On the right is the lotus-handed Guanyin niche. Guanyin has a kind face and a relaxed expression.
The statues of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are naturally amiable, and are no longer the images of sitting rightly and solemnly. Especially the statues of Sakyamuni standing sideways are very rare. The Guanyin holding a clean bottle is dignified, graceful and elegant. We all like these three Northern Song Dynasty statues and the Buddha Stupa built in the late Tang Dynasty next to it. Fortunately, they are all not far apart, so we can walk around and watch repeatedly.
The stone carvings on the left and right walls of the three major niches are also very colorful. With the ribbons flying in the wind, they create an artistic conception of "light and slow, the sky is flying, and the walls are full of wind".
In addition, many stone carvings have been carved in Nanya. Most of the grottoes are small and exquisite, but unfortunately they have not survived thousands of years of wind and rain, and they have been severely weathered and damaged.
Even in the county seat, few tourists come to visit here. Here, we ran into more than a dozen researchers from the Institute of Chinese Cultural Heritage. They are working on plans with scanning and measuring instruments. After talking, we learned that the mountains here have cracked to varying degrees, and they are formulating protective measures.
_CF***18I wrote this review entirely based on childhood memories. My hometown is Zhongtian Town, Ziyang. I used to study in Zhongtian Elementary School and the teachers in the class during the season of rape blossoms would organize picnics. It is a little bit like the current outing. Similar activities, but for a picnic, the big guys bring pots, rice, meat, vegetables, etc. to the destination to cook. Then they will go to the Xiangshui stall. At that time, there was no Huaxi Valley now, and there would be Xiangshuitan. In the river, crabs can be moved in the crevices of the stones, and rice can be cooked with water in the river. The environment in that area is really great. There are caves. We have all been in it. I have not been in 24 years. I have to go home. Go see
Cherry??2009^_^[Sichuan·Anyue Rock Carvings] From Neijiang City to Anyue County, Ziyang City by car, the most important destination of this trip! [struggle]
Anyue County is the "Hometown of Chinese Stone Carving Art" and also known as the "Capital of Chinese Buddhist Sculptures". There are 10 national key cultural relics protection units in the territory.
The Anyue Grottoes were excavated in the second year of Emperor Wu of Nanliang (AD 521), flourished in the Tang and Song dynasties, and lasted until the Ming and Qing Dynasties until the Republic of China. Almost every township has large-scale grotto statue sites. Except for the destruction of makeup, most of them are well preserved, especially the Song Dynasty modeling which reached the pinnacle of Chinese grotto art.
We will visit the most important stone sculptures in Anyue County in two days. Let me talk about the excitement slowly! [laid back]
_CF***42It's really good, Ba Shi's board, I suggest to play more, because it is really suitable to go with a girl boyfriend, on vacation, it is really easy to live, usually busy at work. It's hard to come by, really happy.
Cherry??2009^_^The most well-known among the many stone sculptures of Anyue is the "Purple Bamboo Guanyin" in Pilu Cave, also known as "Water Moon Guanyin". Because of this beautiful statue of Guanyin, Zizhu Guanyin has become the spokesperson of Anyue stone carvings.
"Water Moon Goddess of Mercy" is named after its back leaning on purple bamboo. It is an artistic treasure of the Northern Song Dynasty stone carvings, the pinnacle of work. She was called "Oriental Venus" by the famous British Chinese female writer, Ms. Han Suyin. My feeling is that it is even more beautiful than Venus! [laid back]
In addition to the Shuiyue Guanyin statue, there is an important grotto in Pilu Cave-the ten practice diagram of the fifth generation of Tantric Patriarch Liu Benzun. In the Pilu Cave, which is 6.6 meters high, 14 meters wide, and 4.5 meters deep, the sculpture of the "Ten Rehabilitation Practice Diagram" of Liu Benzun is rigorous in composition, vivid and easy to understand, which is a fine product.
This unparalleled statue of Zizhu Guanyin appeared in various texts and photos introducing Anyue stone carvings, but it was obviously not enough to promote it. During our visit, we found that most of the visitors were locals from Sichuan, and there were not many foreign tourists. We stopped for a long time in front of this exquisite statue and couldn't bear to leave! [struggle]
Cherry??2009^_^There was a little twists and turns in searching for Mingshan Temple, but when I navigated to the destination, the gate of the temple was nowhere to be seen. Fortunately, the lady guarding Mingshan Temple just passed by, so we went in to visit. [Hey ha]
Mingshan Temple is located in the Hutou Mountain Range, surrounded by lush green mountains, arched mountains, ancient roads standing on the mountain, and forests of Buddha statues surrounding the mountains. There are currently 63 cliff statues of the Tang and Song Dynasties, a total of 13 caves, 31 round stone statues, of which 8 are 5 to 7 meters, more than 50 are 1 to 4 meters, 19 inscriptions and 4 inscriptions. Although the number of statues is small, they are large in scale, all carved on the top cliff, majestic and superb.
All the statues of Mingshan Temple are excavated on the rock wall that stands on the side of the mountain, which is magnificent and spectacular. Most of the statues are works of the Northern Song Dynasty. Thousands of years of wind and frost have long faded the color of the Buddha statues, leaving those undulating sand lines, making the statues a little more charming and soft. [laid back]
