I can't get over the fact that you can swim here. A super popular spot where locals go for a dip and to lounge around in the sun. It gets crowded, but the more, the merrier, right?

Since there is no ocean or formal beach area to go to in Zurich, the Limmat River serves that purpose. We were at the Marriott and the bridge just across from it was a fun and popular spot for jumpin...
Amazing experience, jump from the bridge and swim in the river! Note: water is deep; get the floating fish bag before you get here if you can't swim!
once upon a time, this was simply a place on the river where you could come for a swim. in the meantime, it developped with bars and infrastructure, and you will hear a lot of Germans here. it therefo...

Where else in the world the waters of an urban river are so clean you can actually swim in the and have a little urban / river beach? This is a very typical activity amongst the locals and a very unique experience for us visitors.Put on your swimsuit and join the fun during the winter months.
One of several outdoor swimming areas in Zurich, I was pleased to have this place pointed out to me by a local upon arrival in the city. I really wouldn't have otherwise known it existed! I mean, honestly, who thinks of riverside "beaches" when thinking of Zurich? What this is, really: a social event. During the warmer months, hundreds of would-be residents-of-a-more-tropical-locale flock to this swimming area (a cement platform and roped-off area of the Lammat river), and others like it in the city, to enjoy some sun, splash around, and (most importantly), socialize. I ended up meeting some really neat people here, in the couple hours I spent lounging with my feet in the water (far too fearful to actually get in), who I was able to hang out with later that evening for a fun night out in a strange town. Highly recommended, if just as a sight-seeing expedition. Swimming holes are a significant part of Zurich's culture, so it's definitely worth checking out!
A very clean river. It is even suitable for swimming. There is even a small beach.
