Recently, Taiwan Evergreen Shipping Group's Changci cargo ship stranded on the Suez Canal, making this ancient great human project re-emerged in the world's attention, leaping into the headlines of various media! I used to go to the Red Sea every time I went on vacation, driving from the capital Cairo to the famous Red Sea city of Hergada, I would pass the Suez Canal to the Red Sea entrance, but it was just overlooking the canal. This is probably the only chance for ordinary tourists to get close to the canal! Until March 19, 2019, I finally experienced the Suez Canal for the first time when I was invited to the first cruise of the Cruise Sida Venice! Next, follow the photos I took of the canal to revisit the old place! The Suez Canal is now over 150 years old and opened in 1859. She connects the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, allowing shipping to enter the Red Sea in a day, and it takes at least a month to go around the entire African continent from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea without the Suez Canal. Because of the sky-high tolls, almost no passenger ship will cross the Suez Canal, and the route is full of containers. I can go the whole journey once and I guess this time in my life. (Figure 2 is the Suez Canal Monument, which opened in 1914 and completed in 1918, 103 years ago). Entering the narrowest channel of the Suez Canal, our large cruise ship almost filled the entire canal. From here it is clear that the west bank of the canal is nourished by an oasis by the Nile, while the east bank is only barren desert. From the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, 198 kilometers long to prevent our big cruise ship from yawing or stranding has been accompanied by a few small guide ships, which took more than 9 hours and 150 years of great human masterpiece - the Suez Canal, I finally finished. Goodbye, Suez Canal. I will always remember your magnificent figure! 🇪🇬
