It is the highest mountain in the Indochinese Peninsula (comprising Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia), hence its nickname "the Roof of Indochina"
The view from Fansipan Peak could be amazing if you are there on a sunny day. Unfortunately, we were in Sapa in rainy season, end of August, so it’s quite hard to catch a clear day there. Local guide told me that when at the foot of the mountain you can see the peak then it is sunny up there. To get there from Sapa center we took Muong Hoa funicular then Fansipan Cable Car up. It is raining and freezing there so we chose not to climb 600 steps to the top but took Fansipan Monorail from Do Quyen Station near Ha Pagoda. After got off, I climbed a few more stairs to reach Fansipan Peak
Great experience on top of the mountain peak. Can ride a cable car and tram to go to the peak
Fansipan was really worth it! We took the train and cable car up (ticket bought from our hotel, which was given discount for). We then hiked 600 steps from the cable car station to the summit of Fansipan (3,134m above sea level). For those who wish to go all out, can join their expedition hike. Either way, must come to this place, the view is AMAZING! You can see the valley from the summit (if the weather is clear). The wind is pretty strong and dry up here, so do wear something thick and moisturise/spf your skin.
The highest peak in Indochina is very beautiful, there are trams and cable cars, very convenient. On the way back, walk down to see the atmosphere and pay respect to the monks.
