Pungsuwon is the first Catholic village in Korea. In 1801, more than 40 believers fled from Yongin City to build a village here, but their religious life has always lacked priests. Father LeMere came here in 1888 and in 1896 built this Catholic church with Chinese engineers. Completed in 1907, this church is the fourth largest cathedral in Korea.
