bluecrane:“World Heritage Tour-Ajanta Caves There are many caves in India that belong to the world heritage, and Ajanta Caves should be the most famous among them. [Location] It is located in the mountains more than 100 kilometers north-east of Aurangabad. It can be reached by bus, chartered car or self-driving. The road conditions are poor and it takes about three hours. The rest stop is far from the city and about half an hour away from the scenic area, so be prepared when you set off. [Tickets] Foreigners are 600 rupees, and a tax of 20 rupees/person is charged between entering the parking lot. The shuttle bus from the parking lot to the scenic area is 20 rupees/person one-way [Business hours] Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00-17:30 [Tour route] From the parking lot to the scenic shuttle bus area, you have to pass through a shopping area, and the vendors will follow you tirelessly to sell crystals. Buy tickets in cash before getting on the scenic shuttle bus. After getting off the bus, go through a hall and go to the ticket window. You can ask for an explanation, one or two thousand rupees, which is charged according to the number of people and the length of the explanation. There is no Chinese service. After entering the scenic area, follow the horseshoe-shaped road counterclockwise to walk from Cave 1 to Cave 26. It is recommended that after the walk, return to the middle section, there are steps down, cross the river, and go up to the pavilion opposite (it is said that this is the location where British soldiers discovered the Ajanta Caves), and take in the panoramic view. The breeze is blowing, and the scenery is still good. [Featured Recommendation] The murals here are bright and bold in color. In the sculptures, the Yaksha women have plump buttocks and breasts, and the three bends are very charming. Many flying apsaras are flying in pairs of men and women, but they are not as light and free as our Sui and Tang flying apsaras, but they are sticking together and flying low. The murals in Cave 1 and Cave 2 are colorful, and the characters are portrayed in detail and vividly. Caves 10, 19, and 26 are three stupa caves. There is no such cave form in Dunhuang, but Dunhuang has a "Chinese stupa cave", which is the central tower column cave, and you can see the source here. The sculptures of the porch and capitals, the flat chessboard on the top of the cave, etc. are all very exquisite, and even dynamic. 【Notes】 -Bring a flashlight: Indian caves are relatively large, and mobile phone lights are basically useless -You can take photos in the caves, but please turn off the flash - the murals are so beautiful, how can you bear to hurt them? Let our descendants have the opportunity to see the beauty! -Some of the people on duty in the caves are stealing. They will remove the sticks blocking the shrines for 10 or 20 rupees, allowing you to go in and take photos at will. I personally do not recommend this. Everyone has the responsibility to protect cultural relics -Most caves require you to take off your shoes to enter. It is recommended to bring thick socks. When the distance between caves is short, just wear socks to walk, so as not to put on and take off shoes. -Just take off your shoes at the door. If they are not super expensive shoes, everyone is a tourist, and no one will steal them (at least my friend's Nike has no problem). Because tourists have just arrived and have been watching for a long time, there are more shoes at the entrance of Cave 1 and Cave 2. A local offered 400 rupees to help us look after the shoes. Fortunately, we refused because it was not necessary at all. -There are many monkeys and they are agile, but they are more polite than the monkeys in Mount Emei and will not steal things. However, it is better to hide the food. Once seen, they will follow you and ask for food as tirelessly as the vendors.”
