M49***48:“As the world's largest palace complex (covering an area of 4 million square meters), Mandalay Palace has a magnificent teak structure and red walls and golden eaves in the style of Bagan, which is extremely visually impactful. Climbing the 33-meter-high observation tower, you can overlook the panoramic view of Mandalay. The lion throne and the layered gilded roof of the Golden Throne Hall still tell the former glory of the Konbaung Dynasty. However, the reconstruction after the destruction of World War II made its interior furnishings thin, and the strong earthquake in 2025 caused the collapse of the palace walls and towers. Now it is more like a "hollow monument" that bears Myanmar's modern trauma. The heavy sense of history far exceeds the tour experience.”San San
