Built in the early 19th century, it has been renovated to a very high standard. Living room has a wood burning stove as well as efficient electric heating so you'll be warm and cosy. Situated on the Burns and Solway Coast Heritage Trails it is only a few miles from the Wildfowl and Wetlands Reserve at Caerlaverock. In winter Barnacle geese fly past your window morning and evening and other geese, wildfowl and ducks can be seen on the river. Otters are often spotted nearby and in summertime porpoises and seals have been seen on the river. This area is a nature lover's paradise (BBC's "Autumn Watch" broadcast from here in 2015). Also well-placed for gentle walking, cycling, fishing, sightseeing and relaxing. Lovely beaches are only half an hour's drive away and Caerlaverock Castle is just up the road.
