We interviewed video creator and influencer, Tina from HangryByNature, and asked her what she loves about Melbourne and what makes it the perfect staycation.

Food, diversity and culture. There's just no place quite like Melbourne's vibe anywhere else in the world. From the perspective of a foodie, you could go on a round-the-world trip in a day and taste every cuisine in every corner of Melbourne, and it tastes very, very authentic. Melbourne is the perfect staycay for people who love a laidback city getaway. If you love food, bars, street art and unique city experiences - Melbourne needs to be on your bucket list.

My partner-in-crime, Andy, of course. He's my video guy and just all-round fave companion and best friend. We also bring our kids on certain occasions - they love the Melbourne city life as much as we do.

Could Hilton LQS get any more Melbourne? We loved how they built the hotel seamlessly into a heritage-listed building. It's so Melbourne because the entrance is so unassuming (like so many places in Melbourne) but once you walk inside, you get greeted with this grandeur like you've stepped back in time but then you look closer and you realise you haven't because there are these beautiful modern touches to the hotel.

The Douglas Club has this roaring 20s feel with cocktails that really pack a punch. The Pina Colada with a Melbourne twist is a must-try. That one was our favourite!

We also loved dining at Luci, which fused modern Australian food with Italian cuisine. The Hiramasa Kingfish and dry aged duck breast are *chefs kiss*.

How can I narrow it down to one memory? That's a tough one. I would say our tour of the "Money Can't Buy Room" definitely wowed us and it's so cool that you can't book the room, making it super mysterious. We definitely loved taking the self-guided tour and finding out more about the history of the property, buuuut.. If it comes down to it all, the food was definitely the most memorable part.

From the tasty and refreshing cocktails (that got me tipsy after 3 sips) to our incredible dinner and hotel breakfast, we absolutely loved the dining options at Hilton LQS.

Exploring our own city. We stumbled upon new street art pieces (in Melbourne they're ever-changing), found new laneways, and got to eat at places we'd always been meaning to try. Melbourne city never gets boring and each time we go to the city, we find something new. There's no better way to discover Melbourne than to stay in the city and uncover all the nooks and crannies.

Melbourne reminds me of Berlin. It's not the most aesthetic or prettiest city in Australia, but what our city lacks in looks, it makes up for in food, arts and culture. I'm not being biased because we live here, but we truly have the best food in the world and unique experiences that you won't find in any other city in Australia.

  1. Research ALL the food places. Plan your itinerary around where you want to eat.
  2. When in doubt, always book a longer trip. There's so much to see, eat and experience in the city.
  3. Book a trip back. We've lived here all our lives and keep returning to the city every week to try new places.

We'd love to visit more cities in Australia and uncover some of the most compelling things to do and places to eat in each place. We're thinking Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and, of course, Sydney in the near future.
