I&#39;m so grateful I purchased the &quot;Xu Cai Shuo&quot; guided tour of the Forbidden City, which includes admission, a four-hour tour, a coffee, and a snack! It was truly worth it! Our guide, Li Xiaohai, a native Beijinger with a double degree, was humorous and insightful. He provided a detailed, crowd-free route a day early, including a WeChat message. We followed the riverbank from Donghuamen to Wumen, arriving before 8:00 AM and waiting. Once the gates opened at 8:30 AM, you could enter the palace within 10 minutes. Guide Li was waiting for us just to the left of the Wumen entrance, offering a lively historical tour and stunning photos. Finally, we arrived at the Forbidden City Caf&eacute; for a cup of coffee, snacks, and some photos!

Even though I&#39;d done a lot of planning ahead of time, I was still a bit overwhelmed by the size of the National Museum upon entering security. But the good thing was that there were staff everywhere, practically around the corner. I couldn&#39;t find the entrance to the underground level at first, so I asked, and later I asked when I rented a power bank [laughing and crying R]
But I saw almost everything I wanted to see!! It was incredibly tiring, but where I could speed through the crowds, I slithered through them. If it were less crowded, I might have had more opportunities to take more interesting photos.

Temple of Heaven

This was a great half day visit, we decided to take the audio guide which was very reasonable and it had clear English commentary. The combo ticket scanned in easily and gained access to all the areas. Take water and a snack.
