Zhengyi Temple Theater: A Palace of Opera with Ancient Charm

Zhengyangmen, commonly known as Qianmen, is located south of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It was the main southern gate of the inner city of Beijing during the Ming and Qing dynasties, initially built in 1419 (the 17th year of the Yongle reign). It consisted of a gate tower, arrow tower, barbican, and gatehouse, and was the foremost of the nine gates of Beijing. The two-story gate tower had a hip roof, gray tiled roof with green trim, and stood 42 meters tall. The arrow tower was a crucial military defensive point, with 94 arrow slits. The barbican was demolished in 1906 due to traffic improvements, leaving only the gate tower and arrow tower. Zhengyangmen is an important heritage site along the central axis of Beijing, a national AAAA-level scenic spot, and fully opened to the public in 2019. Climbing the tower offers panoramic views of Tiananmen Square and the ancient capital, earning it the title of &quot;Gateway to the Capital.&quot;

It was snowing when we were at US Beijing, it is a pity that they halt the outdoor rides even the snow stopped. Overall, we still had lot of fun, we enjoyed the noodles at kongfu panda, the Jurassic park ride and of course the harry potter.  That note that a lot of ppl/photographers, hogging on places to take tons of photos, just asked nicely to get a quick shot!

Winter is a great time to visit as there is no crowd. Enjoy the street food and the historical mansion of prince gong. Took about 3 hours in there. Station is BeiHaiBei station and 5 mins walk to the mansion
