Mola Oddity is a creative project centered on Birdy K, Yider, and Asr.
They compare themselves to the sunfish (Mola) in the deep sea, with their unique personalities (Oddity) and the ability to digest a wide range of things, which enables them to transform the absurd and strange things in the world into an interesting and wonderful story of strange things.
Birdy K is deeply influenced by the aesthetics of the American duo The Books, and attempts to deconstruct and reorganize various materials to build her own world of meaning; Yider and Asr are rooted in Mongolian folk music, exploring the possibility of its integration with West African music and jazz.
The organic combination of the three creates the album's collage interest and inner rhythm, maintaining an ambiguous relationship with all established musical styles.
Mola Oddity's 2024 tour is named "The Other Side Of Hope", and invites drummer Xu Zhitong, guitarist E.o (Jiang Boyi), DJ Guan, and VJ SUAVE (Brazil) to present it together. The melody they created is like a flight encountering a small air current, always inadvertently creating turbulence with dissonant sounds, but it makes people look back for a long time. The slightly misplaced laid-back rhythm maintains a delicate balance like walking on a tightrope, leaving space for breathing.
Whether it is the exotic plucked melody with vibrato or the undercurrent of Techno rhythm, in the world of Mola Oddity, all elements can be "used by me". Listen with a childlike heart, and you will find all kinds of strange sound toys from their treasure box.
About "The Other Side of Hope"
 
In the album "The Other Side Of Hope" which has just been released, movies have become the main medium for Birdy K to ruminate on her emotions and thoughts, and this began with the touch brought to her by the movie of the same name by Aki Kaurismäki. Those moments that moved her, or the lingering moments after watching the movie, or the lingering aftertaste after watching the movie, reflected each other with the plots played out every day in real life, and the inspiration that was stirred up eventually turned into poems pouring down from the tip of the pen. We will hear the sound of big tears falling, pass through the fateful choice of The Legend of 1900, and witness the reconciliation of "a man without a past" with empty memories. And in the depths of the labyrinth of rhythm, Birdy K's thoughts on the ultimate questions such as life and death are clearly revealed-how to face the bleak reality one by one with "the strength of life, counteracting the absurdity of death" (Mola)? Or is the truth of life just like1947 Roswell ReportAs the concept of "IS-BE" (being now) mentioned in the book reveals, is it just a temporary landing of the soul?
Following the flow of her mood, Birdy K sighs and ponders from time to time. Between her soft whispers and innocent chanting, Yider and Asr, who are deeply influenced by West African music and jazz, use the technique of changing scenes to create a perceptual space that is close to and far from the established style. But no matter where you take the scene, you will be impressed by the craftsmanship contained in it: when you get close, you will see the gentle performance like the fluttering wings of a butterfly and the timbre details that suddenly appear; when you are far away, you will see the inner rhythm and collage fun that runs through the whole process, which playfully stirs up all preconceived assumptions. In this scene that is so vivid that it cannot be frozen, the sounds of the past and the future overlap until they become the present.
"The Other Side Of Hope" is a device by Mola Oddity to preserve and extend memory, for others, for ourselves, and to preserve the glimmer of life and the residual warmth of perception. If everything is a chase scene on the Möbius strip - the soul chases the body, and life chases hope - then the resilience, faith and will that are protected on the other side of hope will make us "now become / a ray of light, now become / release".

I went to Chengdu after the Spring Festival. The plum blossoms near Du Fu Thatched Cottage were in full bloom, filling the air with their fragrance. I was pleasantly surprised to find that people born in the Year of the Snake received free admission. Chengdu is a wonderful place, and Du Fu Thatched Cottage is a must-see.

The Wuhou Temple is definitely worth visiting. I went there with a sense of reverence because I love reading &quot;Romance of the Three Kingdoms&quot; and admire Zhuge Liang. I saw the two memorials to the emperor, many rubbings, and statues of Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, and many other heroes of Shu Han. The environment inside is also quite nice, and many tourists were taking photos.
