Dexter Dalwood’s inaugural exhibition with Lisson Gallery represents a return to the artist’s homeland and to the subject of what it might mean to be an ‘English’ painter. After an initial period at a residency in Mexico in 2017, Dalwood moved there to live and work fulltime, since 2022. Now, from this relative distance, he has begun to re- consider his attachments with English art history and the culture of his youth, growing up in 1970s and ’80s Britain. The question of whether national identity can be determined or distilled through art is explored in this new group of paintings that consider the legacies of traditional genres, such as landscape or the lowlier practice of horse portraiture, all the way up to twentieth-century movements including the Bloomsbury Group and Pop Art.

Lisson Gallery is one of the most influential and longest-running international contemporary art galleries in the world. Today the gallery supports and promotes the work of more than 60 international artists across spaces in London, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Beijing. I strongly recommend at least one day at the British Museum. We arranged a visit to the British Museum on the last day of our 10-day tour of the UK. We found that the three hours we arranged were too little. Fortunately, we participated in the tour group of Teacher Bilan. Through the wonderful explanation of the teacher, we learned a lot of the history and origin of the cultural relics that were previously vague. Let us have a vivid humanities and history lesson at the British Museum. We saw the long-awaited Ru kiln and Tang Sancai, and witnessed the exquisite memory of Chinese historical relics. Teacher Bilan also uploaded a few photos of the Ru kiln after the team ended, which allowed me to retain a precious memory and beautiful photos despite the regret.

After watching the changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace, we came to Westminster Abbey. There were a lot of people queuing up, and it took about an hour and a half to enter the church. There was an interpreter at the entrance, and you could choose Chinese. Follow the team and the interpreter will explain. My favorite is the Matisse-style painting window. The staff in the church are of high quality and good temperament, which makes people respect them.

This was my second visit, this time with my family. It was great to overlook half of London and the Thames. The only drawback was the weather was not good enough. The scenery was very different on sunny and cloudy days.

The Queen&#39;s favorite palace is very luxurious inside, but you are not allowed to take photos, you can only take photos outside. When I entered, I took a photo but was stopped by the staff. Knowing the daily life of the royal family, Windsor Castle is generally very quiet.
