Shangyu Museum is a local comprehensive museum in Shangyu District, Shaoxing City. It was established in May 2000. It has a collection of nearly 20,000 cultural relics. It is mainly responsible for the collection, protection, research and display of witnesses of human activities and natural environment in Shangyu area to the public, inheriting and promoting the excellent historical and cultural achievements of Shaoxing. The new museum is located on the south side of Xiaode Square in Cao&#39;e Scenic Area on the west bank of Cao&#39;e River and the east side of China Xiaode Park. It is adjacent to Zhejiang Zhongxin Art Museum and Cao&#39;e Temple, a national key cultural relic protection unit. The new museum has a total land area of ​​11,470 square meters and a total construction area of ​​19,166 square meters. There are 6 exhibition halls, including four basic exhibition halls and two temporary exhibition halls, including Shangyu History and Culture Exhibition Hall, Yue Kiln Celadon Exhibition Hall, Tianxianglou Stele Exhibition Hall, and Shangyu Architecture Exhibition Hall.

Exhibition Introduction

&bull; Shangyu History and Culture Exhibition Hall: The history and culture of the ancient pre-Qin-Qin, Han, and Six Dynasties-Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties-modern and contemporary periods are displayed through four units. Including &quot;Shun Meets Hundred Officials - The Civilization Imprint of Yu Shun&#39;s Hometown&quot;, &quot;Dongshan Fengliu - The North-South Integration of Yuezhong Wangyi&quot;, &quot;Yuntong Fenghui - The Prosperous Panorama of the Waterway Hub&quot; and &quot;Spring Sunshine - The Transformation of the Important Town in Eastern Zhejiang&quot;.

&bull; Yue Kiln Celadon Exhibition Hall: Shangyu is the birthplace of celadon, and the ancient kiln sites and Yue Kiln porcelain are the most famous among all kinds of cultural relics. The exhibition &quot;Shangyu Yue Porcelain&quot; exhibits 97 ceramics from the Hemudu culture to the Northern Song Dynasty, which fully reflects the history of Shangyu Yue Kiln from germination, maturity to development and decline.

&bull; Tianxiang Tower Stele Exhibition Hall: There are 120 steles in Tianxiang Tower, which are copied from the ink marks of famous calligraphers in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and all kinds of calligraphy styles are available, including regular, running, cursive, official and seal scripts.

&bull; Shangyu Architecture Exhibition Hall: Displays the ancient architectural characteristics and architectural culture of the Shangyu area.

Temporary Exhibitions

&bull; &quot;Stones Brilliant in the World, Beauty and Harmony&quot; Stone Carving Art Exhibition: From November 25 to December 16, 2024, it will be held at Luo Buzhen Art Museum, displaying the masterpieces of Qingtian stone carving masters and Qingtian seal stones.

&bull; &quot;Dragon Soaring in China-Dragon Pattern Cultural Relics Theme Exhibition&quot;: From February 6 to May 31, 2024, it will be held in the temporary exhibition hall on the second floor of Shangyu Museum, in cooperation with many museums, displaying 86 pieces/groups of dragon pattern cultural relics.

&bull; &quot;No Questions: East and West: International Contemporary Ceramics Exhibition&quot;: From July 12 to October 31, 2024, more than 70 ceramic works by 58 artists from more than 20 countries were displayed, reflecting Shangyu&#39;s status as the source of porcelain in international exchanges.

For elementary school students who have already learned about Lu Xun&#39;s works, from the Hundred Herb Garden to the Three Flavors Study, and preferably have also read some of Lu Xun&#39;s works, this place is quite interesting. The scenic area is divided into several attractions with different entrances and exits. Lu Xun&#39;s ancestral home and Lu Xun&#39;s former residence are two different places. The Hundred Herb Garden seems to be located within Lu Xun&#39;s former residence, so you need to pay close attention. The Hundred Herb Garden is actually just a small vegetable garden, while the Zhu Family Garden is quite large, with a very tall tree. There are covered boats outside the scenic area. There are many Q-version Lu Xun figures. The little Lu Xun school fridge magnets in the souvenir shop are super cute.

A few days ago, I visited Shaoxing for the first time, and Chenyuan Garden was my first stop. The weather was fantastic, and the entire garden landscape was beautiful.

It was educational for me; I was hearing the stories about the garden for the first time, and the information provided within the park was very comprehensive.

The facilities were excellent, and the place was very clean.

The scenery was beautiful...exceeding my expectations...a Buddhist holy site...Buddhists should definitely visit...there were even white seagulls in the lake...and a small town dedicated to Lu Xun...it&#39;s just that it&#39;s not usually very crowded...

East Lake

Shaoxing East Lake is truly a hidden gem in Jiangnan! The feeling of boating among the cliffs is incredibly unique. The cliffs soar into the clouds, the water is a clear, emerald green, and when the sunlight shines down, the entire lake shimmers, like stepping into a traditional Chinese ink painting.

Taking a traditional awning boat is a must! The boatman rows slowly across the water, passing through the narrow Tao Gong Cave. The inscriptions on the cliffs and the natural cave complement each other beautifully. Looking up, you can only see a sliver of sky; the awe-inspiring feeling is something you can&#39;t experience from the shore. The walking paths along the shore are also very comfortable. You can stroll and stop to admire the textures of the cliffs and the pavilions by the lake. In autumn and winter, the redwoods along the shore add a touch of warmth, and every snapshot is a masterpiece.

The scenic area isn&#39;t large, but every step reveals a new view. The gentle beauty of Jiangnan and the grandeur of the mountains and waters blend perfectly, truly deserving of the title &quot;The World&#39;s First Water and Rock Bonsai.&quot; Whether you prefer natural scenery or cultural heritage, this place is worth a visit!

📍Tips: We recommend visiting on a sunny day, as the East Lake will be even more beautiful under the light and shadow; you can share a boat for better value.

The visitor center is easily accessible by taxi, which is great. The interior is beautifully designed, and camping is also available, making it a wonderful option for gatherings with friends or family.

You can watch the winding stream and browse through this ancient site of refined taste, see copies of Wang Xizhi&#39;s calligraphy, and appreciate both natural and cultural beauty. It&#39;s truly a wonderful attraction. If you have the time, it&#39;s worth taking your time to explore.
