The New York Times has called Matthew Wong »one of the most talented painters of his generation.« This Chinese-Canadian artist straddled the frontier between Far-Eastern and Western art and was influenced equally by van Gogh and Shitao, both of whom significantly figured in his individual development.
Wong, who committed suicide at age 35, was an autodidact who came late to art: his impressive oeuvre arose during a brief period encompassing his final eight years of life. The artist engaged with modernist stances as well as with varieties of expressive art produced by his contemporaries.
This exhibition is conceived as a juxtaposition of around 44 paintings and 12 works on paper by Wong with selected works by van Gogh. It is being mounted in cooperation with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Kunsthaus Zürich, and the Matthew Wong Foundation.

The best museum in Vienna!!! Definitely get a map because you will get lost! It&#39;s so big and has many rooms of different art and artifacts!! Has some nice tables to eat and drink because you might need more energy!Statues, coins, jewellery, stones, mummies, paintings, everything I tell you! You also need at least 3 hours to fully see it!! Best 21 euros spent!! Worth every cent!

Quite good, the door is written not to let pictures, but no one cares or can take pictures. There is a free bathroom at the door, don&#39;t go to the bathroom next door to collect 1 euro. No need to buy a ticket, the bathroom can be used. Know the history of Sissi, there is a Chinese interpreter, scan the ticket, go upstairs and take it in the lobby. I don&#39;t know English properly.

We were lucky with an amazing temporary exhibition of Marc Chagall - it was huge! I understand that Albertina is big on temporary exhibitions and it can boast to have showcased some big artists. Don&rsquo;t forget to check who is on at the time of your visit.The permanent exhibition is also worth a visit. The museum shop is as always one of the main attractions, don&rsquo;t forget to stop by.
