The Sapporo Lilac Festival began in 1959 at the initiative of a cultural figure. In 1960, lilacs were chosen as the city tree of Sapporo and became a familiar symbol to citizens. Today, this festival has become a representative spring event in early summer in Sapporo.

Kawashita Park Venue: 2651-3, Kawashita, Shiroishi-ku Kawashita Park
At the Odori venue, about 400 lilacs are in bloom, and events such as a music festival, a wine garden, and a stamp rally are held. The Kawashita venue has a variety of events such as lilac tours and concerts. For the citizens of Sapporo, this festival marks the end of the long winter and the beginning of the outdoor activity season.

Worth the visit! Just mindful cause if there&rsquo;s a strong wind the observation will be closed. we have to come back the next day and luckily it&rsquo;s open. We went in and had a great photo of odori park. You can see most of the popular areas too up there. Don&rsquo;t forget to play the stamp post card. The last stamp is located in the basement. It&rsquo;s a good souvenir plus you&rsquo;ll have fun doing that.

Odori Park, located near Sapporo Station in downtown Sapporo, isn&#39;t particularly large, resembling a typical garden or green space in Japan. However, the famous Sapporo TV Tower is right next to the park, attracting numerous tourists from all over the world. The area is packed with people eager to take photos.
