Tooting Run Club is thrilled to announce its very first Summer Awayday, the Ben Nevis Expedition! This exciting event is made possible by the TRC Social Committee. On Saturday, June 22nd, participants will embark on a thrilling climb up Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK. If you plan on making your own way there, be sure to meet us promptly at 10:30 am outside the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre. Please note that all attendees are responsible for their own expenses, including travel, food, and accommodation. For those wondering about transportation options, we recommend the Caledonian Sleeper from London Euston, departing on Friday, June 21st at 9:15 pm. One-way tickets are available for as low as £55, with various room options ranging from £300 to £500. The train arrives at Fort William at 10 am on Saturday, June 22nd. The Ben Nevis Centre, where we will gather, is approximately 20 minutes away from Fort William. Our chosen route for the climb is the Mountain Track, perfect for novices. We anticipate the climb to take around 7 hours, allowing us to finish by 5 pm. As for accommodation on Saturday, June 22nd, unfortunately, there is no sleeper service available. We are currently arranging a group booking for one night, and further details will be provided soon. Alternatively, you are welcome to book your own accommodation according to your preference. When it comes to the return journey, we suggest considering two options. The first is to take a regular train departing from Fort William at 11:40 am on Sunday, June 23rd, arriving back at Euston at 9:40 pm that night. Advanced tickets for this option are currently priced at £44. Alternatively, you may opt for the Caledonian Sleeper leaving at 7 pm on Sunday night, which arrives at Euston on Monday morning at 8 am. The cost for this option is currently around £55. It is imperative that all participants confirm their fitness and wellbeing to partake in this climb. By booking a place, you agree to accept full responsibility for your safety, releasing all organizers and guides from any liability. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, please consult with your doctor beforehand. In the event that you feel unwell during the climb, please inform the group lead promptly. If you are unable to continue and need to leave early, please notify the group lead. Lastly, if you have any special needs requirements, kindly inform us in advance. Please be aware that there will be a photographer capturing moments throughout the expedition for promotional purposes.
